Moving on up!

Hello, my Freaky Darlings! I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is after all of these years of trying I have hit the big time. Yep, Good ol’ Malice will be joining the ranks of those fine people at Fangoria Magazine! Turns out they came across a few of my interviews, and loved them. Looks like it’s sure to be easy streak from here on out! Now for the bad news…

The bad news is, my brand is bought. Yep, I’ll have to shut down the site to work there. No more HHN News, No more reviews….Nothing. TO TOP THAT OFF…I will be moving to Dublin, Ireland. So, I take this time to say Good Bye to friends and family…I love you all not nearly of you as much as I should, and love a lot more of you more than you deserve.

Inclosing, I have but one final thing to say…..

APRIL FOOLS!!!

Are you kidding me? Like I would sell out!? I couldn’t leave you guys! I know you all (All 5 of you) couldn’t live a day without me. I am trying to hit it big time, but I’m not willing to sell who I am or my brand. Yeah, I know this was cheesy and you all saw through it…and The above would be awesome as hell…and I just made myself sad…but

A Friend in Need, is a Friend Indeed…

Hello, my dear Freaky Darlings! It’s a wonderful Friday afternoon is it not? Well I don’t know because I’ve lately had to regress back to a semi-nocternal state. You know with work and all…Anyway, I would like to take some time to give a shout out to some good friends of mine!

Now, you might think from the title of the article that this may have something to do with the an odd subject matter… If that’s what you guessed you might be right!!! (Just in the wrong way) No, this has nothing to do with Placebo’s one-hit wonder song “Pure Morning”….However, it does have everything to do with Master Artist Matt Garner and his wife Craft Mistress Heather Garner. You see, the two mentioned are bringing into the world, a mad man of their very own  breed and pedigree. (hoping of course that it is a breed that doesn’t drool, mess the floor, bite, or otherwise hump your leg!) Really this couldn’t happen to better people! The two of them are going to make great parents. Unfortunately, Tragedy has struck our beloved duo, as bad things usually do to good people! So instead of being able to enjoy a little bit of time worry free, they find themselves struggling!

Good thing for them, they are talented! Both have a website of their very own advertising goodies for sale. Matt’s site can be found =>http://questionthemajority.deviantart.com/. Matt is an excellent artist and can draw just about anything. And for the price, how can you refuse?

Next, we have the lovely Heather Garner with her web store.=> http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/OddmentsandTweaks/4/1/0/ Heather is a very talented woman. I actually had the pleasure of buying some of her marvelous crafts this past Christmas. I’ve seen even more of what she is capable of outside of whats on the website. She is a true genius of the trade.

These twof ine speciemen of humanoid could use some help. Stop in and buy something nice for you or yours! If you’re not interested, pass it along and see if someone else is. Pay it forward loves! A little help can go a long way Darlings….AND BY THE WAY….Incase you all didn’t catch from the Facebook Page…The Psychotik’s have recently gotten off of vacation. A couple of days ago to be exact! I’m currently trying to resort things out as it were. With two sick female Psychotik’s and a heavy work load at work…well it’s hard to push content…BUT DO EXPECT SOME SOON!!!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

P.S. Be sure to check out Matt Garner’s Ask Dr. Robotnik Tumblr…You will laugh until you die and then you will die some more….or is that laugh some more…same diffrence…

Rest in Peace Bill Hinzman…

The other day my Darlings, sad news spread across the horror community. One of the coolest people I, and many others, had the privilege of meeting passed away. Most know him as the first zombie in George Romero’s 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead. I and many on the convention circuit knew him as a fine example of a human being. It was a great loss to us all, but I know he is in a better place. If there ever was a good place to go when we die, this man surely is allowed in. I could go on forever with how important his role was, what a great person he was, so on and so forth…instead I have a few words from people who met him…people that sat next to him…and people that partied with him.

Dustin F.- Fan and Con Goer

“I’m not going to pretend that Bill Hinzman and I were best friends. We didn’t spend Thanksgiving together. I wasn’t a set designer for “The Majorettes”. All I am is someone who had the opportunity to meet the man and I am grateful that I did. Some might only know Bill Hinzman as the “graveyard zombie” from Night of the Living Dead. There are many who didn’t know his name. They have never seen “Flesheater” or “Children of the Living Dead”. And that is fair since, let’s be honest, neither one of those 2 films are going to win any Oscars. So, why are so many feeling the loss of this man?

Simply put, Bill was the perfect example of what horror fans (and all movie fans) want their icons to be. He appreciated his fans just as much as his fans appreciated him. You always felt that he was just as happy to meet you as you were to meet him. He made it feel more than just a photo-op. When in his zombie make-up, he WAS the “graveyard zombie”. It was as if he stopped chasing Barbara through the headstones, stepped off of the black & white screen, and now he was in the viewfinder of your camera “coming to get you”. Isn’t that why we watch these films? To become just a small part of it, if even for just a moment.

Under that make-up was a different story. Under that make-up was Bill. The perfect gentleman. Always with a smile. None of that “I’m a star” mentality. He was always amongst the fans. He would talk to you like you had known him for years. And you would wish that you had. So, why is he going to be missed? He will be missed because he is why we make people “stars”. And this one will continue to shine.”

 Melissa Cowan- Actress

“My thoughts and prayers go out to Bill Hinzman’s family and friends!! I had the pleasure of meeting him and getting to know him very well, we often joked between is that he was my zombie godfather!!! I will miss you Bill! May you rest in peace!! The entertainment industry and horror community has truly lost a legend today, glad I got the chance to know you both professionally and personally!! I will miss you !”

Primal Root- Trash Cinema Collective

“The very first time I laid eyes on Bill Hinzman it was the middle of the night. I was about 8 years old as he shambled through my living room, attacked a young woman by the name of Barbara and killed her brother in a scuffle that unfolded before my eyes. My life…would never be the same. Bill Hinzman changed made an immeasurable impact on me that night. He terrified me, he intimidated me, his living dead personae fascinated me. No other living dead descendant of Hinzman’s Ghoul #1 is etched into my memory the way his is. Sure, George Romero and John Russo wrote the modern zombie, but it was Hinzman, who truly pioneered and crafted it onscreen in his now legendary performance in Night of the Living Dead.

Fast forward over a decade and I am in line to finally meet the ghoul who rattled me through my television set as a youngster. My stomach is in knots, I’m getting anxious. Bill is now amongst my very first horror film celebrities I was to meet.  My turn comes up, I step forward, and there before me is the smiling, sweet face of Bill Hinzman. I reached out my hand to shake his and introduced myself, “Oh man, hey, eh, my name’s Kevin. It’s a real honor to meet you, Mr. Hinzman!” In return, Bill shakes my hand and says, “Good to know you, Kevin. You can just call me Bill.” And that’s how I first got to know Bill.

Over the years as a convention goer I had the opportunity to hang out and chat with Bill on many occasions. Ever gracious, always sweet and eternal humble, Bill was hands down one of the most genuine and open people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I didn’t know him nearly as well as so many others of you out there who frequented the convention circuit but every time I spent time in the man’s presence he always made me feel at home. Like an equal. Like a friend. He had an undeniable charm and youthfulness to him that I hadn’t expected. Always there staying up late with his fans, laughing, telling stories and carrying on. He had the uncanny ability to make even his most recent acquaintance feel right at home and at ease around him. Bill managed to make us all feel like we were part of the family. The man’s heart, his warmth, were as well-known to us as his iconic characters. Bill is irreplaceable and has left a pair of shoes that cannot ever be filled. A friend and father figure to all of us, Bill will live on in the film he made, in our hearts and in our retelling of the times we were blessed enough to have spent with him.  We will forever miss and love you, Bill.”

Tons more can be seen on various Horror sites…there is no doubt he will be missed and the convention circuit won’t be the same without him…In closing I would like to say a few words…

I would like to tell you a story about Bill… Back in 2008, that was a rough year for the Psychotik family. I lost two people very dear to my heart, I lost my car, I lost my job, lost my home….It was a rough time to bring a child into the world. We had just started pulling things back together, and decided to take a trip to Spooky Empire’s Ultimate Horror Weekend. We had went the two years prior, and it was always good seeing friends and hanging out. That Friday night, I had a bit too much to drink and had a seat in one of the pool chairs. The man who sat next to me was none other than Bill Hinzman. I talked to him for a good little bit, telling him all sorts of things you never tell strangers…and he listened. I told him how i didn’t know where I was going in life…that I put everything on “Have to get to the Con” and now I’m here and don’t know what to do. I didn’t know what to do with my life. You know what he told me? He said, “Sometimes it’s not important to know where your going. Sometimes you just have to do what you think is right and see where it takes you. Either way, I’m sure you’ll end up right where you need to be.” I’ll never forget those words.

He was the nicest celebrity I ever had the pleasure of meeting, and we will all miss him dearly. Goodnight Graveyard Ghoul…the next con party is for you…

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

SOPA and PIPA Can go Straight to HELL!!!

If you have a computer and are not a vegetable odds are you have been hearing this all morning. All of your favorite sites blacked out in protest (ANNOYINGLY SO!!! FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU….) Anyway, your dear host has taken the time and sent a correspondence to my representative in the name of Encyclopedia Psychotika and the rest of the free internet. (Let’s face it, this shit get’s passed my goose is cooked!) So here…for you…is that very letter:

Hello, there Mr. Tom Rooney!

My name is Steven Allen, but most of my adoring fans know me across the web as Malice Psychotik. I’m an internet Movie Reviewer, Celebrity Interviewer, and Creative writer. These new bills up for debate soon, I believe the PIPA and the SOPA. These bills are no good friend. The threaten to end the internet as we know it all together. Massive amounts of history lost. Tons of information erased! All because the greed of few. I understand you would like to get rid of internet piracy…I do I really do. But this is not the way. Your talking about ruining Free Speech for crying out loud! A lot of information sites (mine included) would go bye bye in the blink of an eye! Do you know how many times a day people use Wikipedia? Do you know how many businesses, Bands, Conventions, Travel Destinations depend on websites to advertise them freely!? It would deal a massive blow to an already hurt economy…And we don’t want that now do we.

All I’m saying is I hope you vote for the right choice when the time comes. Vote NO and keep the internet free. We have a wonderful thing in this invention called the internet…don’t screw it up.

Your Tax Paying Voter,
Steven Allen

P.S. A Vote NO for PIPA/SOPA

There you have it folks, Malice pulling the old “You don’t vote the way I like, and I won’t vote the way you like” card! lol Anyways, I won’t be blacking my page out, so while the rest are down, DO ENJOY MINE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

You’re Beautiful…

An interesting debate was brought up on the Facebooks last night. It was all over a simple picture comparing what beauty is considered today and what it was back in the day. I just thought the pic made an interesting point. However, it has since started a great debate. I will post the picture bellow and you can make your own opinion. I of course will be chipping in my two coppers, but do make sure to form your own opinion as well. Here is the picture:

Now the problem seems to be that a lot of skinny girls out there feel it’s insulting. That it was meant to make them feel bad. More over the one girl I followed the post too seemed to think that the whole world was against skinny girls. Apparently all of us portly people missed the memo that we were now the it thing. Damn Facebook! Never passes any of my messages along. I could have been on the cover of Chippendale magazine yesterday! At any rate, this girl took it wrong and even made a photo passing it around saying people should stop spreading this image. She felt so strong about it, she took the original photo and put a circle with a line through it saying the original picture breeds hate towards skinny people…This is her view….

And this is mine! The way I took it was more a commentary on the way the world views skinny people and woman with a little more meat on their bones. It is no secret, if your skinny your accepted in today’s society. If your even a little pudgy, WATCH OUT! Depending on where you are (or if your still in High School this is a definant!) you might have a lynch mob around the corner waiting to execute your pork chop eating ass! All jokes aside, it’s not sexy to be fat is what society tells you. If you also notice something about the girls in the top row, they are all sickly skinny and are so by choice. I mean they aren’t just skinny, they are REALLY FUCKING THIN! Not because they are naturally thin people, but because they diet themselves to near death (or in some cases exercise to near death!) One of them (Heidi Mon-aww who really gives a fuck!) is half fucking plastic for Cthulhu’s sake! The bottom list of girls, while are not considered fat by my standard, are natural weight. They have a little more to love, and that’s what was considered sexy back then. Also, take into account while all of the woman are in swim suits, the top just look down right trashy! The only one that bares her midriff is Betty Page! So all the picture is really saying is, when did America become obsessed with Trashy, Super Thin, Fake woman? What happened to the days of Sexy, Voluptuous, REAL women?

Now I’m not here to disparage either side. No far from it! I think as long as your happy with yourself, you are beautiful just the way you are. And don’t get me wrong on plastic surgery! If you want a little work done, get it done (But use your common sense! A few surgeries are more than enough! AND FOR THE LOVE OF YOURSELF!! DO IT BECAUSE YOU WANT IT! NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT OTHERS THINK!) My problem is with how society labels people. I hate that this society bases everything it thinks about people solely on looks. Skinny, short-haired, suit and tie (or in a female since dressed like trash!) These are all what is in! And if you don’t fit into that tiny box…well buddy you don’t fit in. I know most of you are saying, “But Malice that’s just how it is!” Well that doesn’t make it right….

Right now, everywhere…their are woman and men a like damn near killing themselves. Why? Because they don’t feel good about themselves! The world frowns upon them, and they want to be one of the smiling faces. No they aren’t doing it because they want to be healthy. They didn’t make this decision because THEY wanted it. They made this choice just to fit in…When is it going to be enough to be happy in your own skin? If you make a choice to go on a diet, get plastic surgery, or work out…it should be because that’s what YOU want. Not because it’s the NORM. It doesn’t stop at weight either…Tattoos, strange hair styles, sexual preference, the way you dress…etc. These are all things that are not considered socially acceptable. Well in all fairness, Tattoos are becoming a bit more acceptable…but their is still a pregidous…Fact is, you can bray it up with the rest of the sheep…but I promise you won’t be happy Need proof? FINE!

I’ll admit something that I haven’t admitted to anyone. A short while ago, I cut my long hair short. Now I about had myself convinced it was because of a receding hairline. Now I’ll admit, that is a small part of it. Thinning hair and receding hairline equal getting old sucks. But a small portion of me had said to myself, maybe I could get a little further in life with short hair. Everyone always asked me when I was going to get it cut, or told me I could go farther with short hair. Maybe they were right…Well they were! People at work accepted me a bit more. Managers noticed me more and if I would have done it a few months sooner…who knows! Maybe I would have gotten the promotion I deserved…fact is though…I miss my long hair. I’m not happy with my short hair. It’s hard to manage, and I have no idea how to cut it. Looking at pictures…It’s like it stole my identity!!! Now I’ve been trying to figure out anything…anything that could make me strange again (Not just my mind…that’s the same…can’t fix crazy!) I’ve considered everything from streaking my hair purple…to getting massive tattoo’s! Point is it achieved the desired effect…but it didn’t make me happy.

Randal Graves said it best: “Jesus, if you had any sense whatsoever, you’d fucking stop trying to bray it up with the rest of the sheep and live your life the way it makes sense to you, you fucking ass.”

(By the way if you have any suggestions for a hair style…I’m game!)

So in closing, be happy with yourself! You are just find the way you are. If YOU want to change, then do it. But do it because you want it, not to be more accepted. How can we change the social norm? Well, I’m not sure if you can…but maybe if we all tried to be a little less judgemental…we could tweak it…ever so slightly. Now my Freaky Darlings, I’ll be going to bed. I’m getting off of my soap box, and resting for a while (I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck…NO SERIOUSLY! LIKE I HAVE FUCKING SPINAL TRAUMA!) And don’t sweat the interwebz loves…us people is crazy. And to survive the horror that is the interwebz….you need to be as Mad as a Hatter…so it’s a good thing for you I’m bat shit insane!! HA HA HA HA HAAA!!!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Play me out GaGa…

YOU BITCH!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU WOULD….

thats better….

Farewell JAWS…Hello Harry Potter?

Well Freaky Darlings, another year down and gone. But with that we have a whole new year of nonsense to look forward to and enjoy. Some people even think the world will end this year. I suppose it could…the world could be chipping away underneath our feet as we speak. A super weird mutated virus could turn everyone you know and love into flesh eating zombies. Or the world could just keep on spinning (Much more likely) and prove all of the doomsday theorists to be a bunch of whack jobs incapable of enjoying life! What ever happens, there is something definitely ending that has garnered my attention more, and that is the JAWS: The Ride attraction at Universal Studio’s Orlando. I did promise you all I would post a final farewell as well as my theories as to what is going in (Better post em’ now, because they may post whats going in tomorrow!) So let’s dive into some shark infested waters for the last time shall we!

Farewell Bruce…

Tomorrow will be the last day of operation for one of the last surviving original rides at Universal Studios Orlando. Riding it one last time was a bit bitter-sweet. I had the pleasure of making that last ride with Seras, Jazmin, and my best friend Todd. As we were going through the familiar twists and turns of the ride, I looked around and remembered all of the special memories I had from the ride. The first time I ever rode….the first time I dragged Seras on…late night at Halloween Horror Nights…the times when we had a skipper that felt the need to ham it up a bit or make it their own. So many fond memories…then it hit me. I looked around at all of the effects. Everything was dirty…it all looked so bad and it  justhad a  rehab a short time ago. Then, an epiphany finally hit me! I finally understood why this ride was going away. In the history of this ride, it does go down quite a bit. The cost of maintenance has to be astronomically high as compared to some of the other attractions. The fire effect has even been indecisive as to whether it would stay or go, because of the cost! Looking around…I just realized it was time.

Now don’t take me the wrong way, I will miss the ride. It may have gotten stale for me, but I have fond memories attached. More I’m saying, it won’t be as bad as Back to the Future leaving.  As we progressed through our final ride it ended in the same way it always did. The only difference is for the first and last time, Jazmin saw the shark. Poor thing got the poo scared out of her…literally!  One last memory was made, and I’ll remember it forever (as I’m sure Jazmin will…I’m not looking forward to the therapy bill!) I must also mention that it was somehow the first time Todd had ridden as well. His opinion, it was cool. I just wish he could have seen it on a good day. At least he got the experience of seeing the one scared child that always managed to ride…to bad it was my kid…I feel so bad, but it’s something we will laugh about later…I hope!

At any rate, we all had a nice time. It will be sad to see it go! But, at least we all got to say goodbye. Just one question remains….what will replace it?

What is going to replace it?

This is the question on everyone’s mind. What will replace JAWS and Amity? Well Darlings, it’s looking like the general census is Harry Potter Phase II. Now this isn’t just a guess! A lot of reasearch from other sites as well as my own research has been done. It looks pretty likely. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a team member to talk as I’ve done before (Ever since Water Boarding was deemed inhumane, this work is just impossible…lol…Seriously though…)

The full rumor is,(I still say rumor, Uni could throw a wicked curve ball!)  The replacement will be The Diagon Ally/ London area from the movies and books. The ride looks like it may be Gringott’s (Yeah you remember that really cool scene with the white dragon in the last movie…that!) The most unbelievable of all the rumors though, is a Hogwarts Express that will link the two parks and use the Kong 360 technology. This is the evidence:

* Universal is contract bound to deliver a Phase II to the Harry Potter Park

* The contract also states that Phase II will have to have elements from the last film

* The Harry Potter attraction is contract bound to be updated every so often

If you want to see more, check my source links below. One link in particular. I won’t say too much, but I will say HHNRumors found some pretty cool info on a ‘Project 722.” A lot of speculation as to what 722 means (Some say it’s a reference to page 722 of Deathly Hallows which references Kings Cross Station. Some say it’s in reference to Gringott’s because all of the vaults 700 and above were considered High Security…can it be both?) Check them out!

More info is sure to come as the month progresses. Rumor is announcement will come January 24th. Uni has other projects in the works though, so that announcement may not be about Potter Phase II. Could be sooner…could be later…but I’m sure something will be this month since the popular belief is that construction will begin February 2012. At any rate, that’s all for now. Stay tuned to more madness to come.

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

MERRY CHRISTMAS, FREAKY DARLINGS!!!

Twas the Night of the Krampus…

Ho Ho Ho! And Merrrry Christmas, Freaky Darlings!! Another year has come and is now drawing to a close. What kind of Psychotik Christmas would it be without something about the Krampus. This little masterpiece has been stuck in my head for quite some time. I do hope you all enjoy my revisioning of the Christmas Classic, Twas’ the Night Before Christmas.

Twas’ The Night of the Krampus

Twas the Night of the Krampus, when all through the house
Rang the sounds of screams, From a little boy named Klaus.
The little brat was staying up in a stubborn dare,
Telling his parents St. Nick wouldn’t care.

The child was tearing everything asunder,
Not realizing the follies of his foolish blunder.
With Mom pulling her hair out and Dad’s head in his lap,
Just wishing this little demon would just cut his crap.

When all of a sudden we heard a devilish laughter,
The red-headed child ran out the door to see what was the matter.
Out the door he flew fast as The Flash,
Sending porcelain collectables down with a crash!

The door off its hinges sitting in the snow,
You think he would have slipped, but his legs just said no.
When, just then he noticed to his ultimate shock,
8 Hellish horses pulling a disheveled wooden box.

With a big hairy driver brandishing chains and a stick,
He knew in a moment this wasn’t St Nick.
Faster than bat’s from Hell, his coarse voice came,
And he snarled, and snorted, and yelled at them by name!

“Now Slasher! now, Masher! now, Pounder and Nixon!
On, Vomit! On, Stupid! On Dahmer and Manson!
Storm the Porch! And take down a wall!
Now Hurry Quick! Run away! Run away all!”

Coming in fast and wreckless as could be,
They caused such a mess you could hardly see.
At the last second he pulled up landing rough on the roof,
Falling out of the “sleigh” he landed with a Oof!.”

Cursing and Angry he jumped up and down,
“Are you trying to kill me you great stupid clowns!!”
The little boy came running and fell to the ground,
Down the chimney Krampus came with a terrible sound.

He was covered in grey fur, from his head to his hoofed foot,
On his head long horns all dirty and covered in soot.
A bag full of chains he had flung from his back,
A toothy grin of terror split his lips and he smelled like a yak!

His eyes dark pits… He looked very scary!
His skin was like leather, he was not here to make merry!
His stroked on his club ready to go,
This little shrimp would pay, he didn’t even know.

Drawing back…he stopped, there was something to say,
“Why have you been a little shit all year and all day?”
The Boy couldn’t answer, He choked up with fright!
The Krampus just smiled he was filled with delight!

“Most people don’t know of me, but you’ll soon find out…”
The beast moved and made the little spoiled boy shout!
With a hock of loogie, and a twist of his head,
The little snot knew not to be happy but filled with dread.

Not another word was spoken, he went straight to his work,
Stuffing the boy in his bag, Krampus gave the parents a smirk.
He then shoved a finger deep in his nose,
With a passing of gas, up the chimney he rose!

Jumping in the sleigh, he gave the commanding sound,
Away the fleet flew burying deep ground.
With a loud laugh, just before leaving sight he did yell,
“Have a Horrid Christmas, cause’ I’m dragging you to Hell!”

So how was that? Guess that little shit will learn to be a little better to Mommy and Daddy. I do hope the lot of you are having a Happy Holiday and a good time with what ever your plans may be. Do make sure you stop by here a little more often, as I have a few articles coming up you won’t want to mix. ALSO!!! Encyclopedia Psychotika will be at Universal Studios Orlando on the 22nd of this month tp bid farewell to JAWS!!! What a sad day it shall be…

Until Next Time, Mt Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

JAWS…Closed…FOREVER!?

You know, I really hate it when Universal Studios decides to kill a classic ride. It pained me to see Hannah Barbara go (like wise for Jimmy Neutron)…Shot my dreams down when Ghostbusters made way for Twister…Wrecked me when Kongfrontation took a dirt nap…and DESTROYED ME when Back to the Future was shut down for The Simpsons. Now another one of the legends is about to go belly up…JAWS The Ride will stop their shark filled Amity boat tours FOREVER effective January 2nd 2012. This is a huge blow to us lovers of the classic Uni. To be honest, I thought E.T would have bitten the big one first. To be even more honest, I would have thought anything that had Steven Spielberg attached to it would be immune forever! To make matters worst, the blow isn’t even softened with a hint to what the next attraction may be. This is a sad time indeed…The future at my favorite theme park is hazy and unclear…So to try to brighten things up…I do so hate dreary posts…Let’s speculate on a few things that this announcement has begun to toil in my head!!! What is going in the area? What kind of ride will it be? What will they do with one of the eight HHN locations down? SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NO  ANSWERS!!!! ALL WE HAVE ARE….

SPECULATIONS!!!

What IS going to replace JAWS and Amity? Their has actually been talk of JAWS getting the ax for a little while now. At the very least the las couple years. The first rumor I had heard was just after completion of the Wizarding World. The rumor was an expansion to Harry Potter. Some seemed to think it was a valid idea for them to add a Harry Potter themed area and attraction to Universal. I suppose it may be possible. Harry Potter is a large enough world to spill over to Uni as well. I just hope it doesn’t! As much as I would love to see Diagon Ally in real, too much is too much!!! I’m sure they could make it work, but this is at the bottom of my list for hopeful ideas. PLUS…their really is no evidence that would point to this. They have said WWOHP will have a Phase 2, but as far as I know that will be the rest of the Lost Continent….Cthulhu’s Tentecles, I hope that’s not what replaces JAWS and Amity…

Another theory I have thought of is…TRANSFORMERS!!! Awesome ride in Disguise! Seriously, they could put it there…it could happen. As far as the area, they could just make it an expansion to the World Expo area. I’m just not sure what it would all look like. As much as I want to see the ride, I’m thinking more and more as I type this that ir won’t happen. They would have to tear down EVERYTHING, fill in the area, construct a building…I just don’t know. No evidence that this may happen at all, but if I find something I’ll let you know…

Either way, we are talking about a large piece of land being developed. Whatever comes in I’m sure will impress. Universal hasn’t let me down yet. However, there is still one more question on my mind…The JAWS que has been home to HHN Haunts for quite some time. What are they going to do with a missing location….well….

What about Halloween Horror Nights?…My second favorite house from 21 was housed in the que for this ride. In years past, this has always been a location for a house when HHN has been at USO. So what about next year? Are they going to ax a house? Will they find a new location?….OR…Will we see a return of the Islands of Fear. Next year will be the 10 year anniversary. Uni is really good about playing up numbers. I can tell you they’re were many hints at it this past year. Hints that the event may find its way back to IOA. I’m not going to lie, I would love to see this. If not just to see WWOHP taken over by Death Eaters, and a Harry Potter themes house. Rest assured, I’m keeping an ear to the ground for this one.

Either way, JAWS…The Ride will join the ranks of other classics taken out to pasture. I sure am going to miss that Shark. If I get too lonesome hearted though, I could always find a way to Universal Tokyo. Not only are they keeping their JAWS…BUT they have the only surviving Back to the Future The Ride. That’s all for now Freaky Darlings…If I find anything in the future I will let you all know. As of right now, I should be going to Universal the 22nd of this month. I’m good at sleuthing, and if there is a rock to be turned over…I’ll find it.

Until Next Time, My freaky Darlings,

Lindsey Lohan Does Playboy? Justin Bieber Father’s a Child? Juggalo’s a Gang?

As far as Psychotik News goes…I’ve been lacking in horribly. In fact, now that I’m thinking about it, Psychotik has pretty well been dead for most of the existence of this site. I’m hoping to remedy this…and what a week it has been to try to remedy this! Lindsey Lohan’s genitals are about to be seen round the world, (And it’s not the seen part thats as shocking as how much she is being paid!) Justin Beiber has an illegitimate kid, (The best part is when I tell you the details his victim gave!) and the Juggalo’s are finally considered a gang by the FBI!!! There are even a few other things I haven’t mentioned! Well enough with the jibber jabber…here’s…THE NEWS!!!

Lindsey Lohan Get’s Naked…

After years of her saying she wouldn’t do a magazine like Playboy…well…she finally hit low enough to do it. I kind of thought there already was nude photos of her circulating around the web, but maybe that’s different in her eyes? I don’t know. All I know is as of late Lindsey has the golden snatch. The Freaky Friday star is getting $1 Million Dollars for her pictorial. (Hef got rooked! She would have probably did it for $500, 000…) I know I’m kind of late to the party on all of this, but hey I’m sure there is someone out in the land of the interwebz that doesn’t know yet!!! The picture shoot was October 27th I believe. Funny thing is they had to do a reshoot. And from what I’ve seen, it’s been a fight between who’s fault it is. She better hurry though. She only has until November 9th and then she is back in the slammer for a V.O.P.

While we are on the subject, she was also offered a contract with sex toy company Flesh Light for $1 Million Dollars. Apparently they think nerds will line-up around the block to have a “Crack” at LiLo’s crack…and not the powdery fund stuff either (Well I guess you coul have crack, while having a “Crack” at her crack?…I don’t know.) I wonder if they would give it freckels…? Maybe make it reek of booze…? Could you imagine the advertisements? “Just the thing for your Freaky Fridays…Here comes the real Parent Trap…” (You know if it became popular enough…the Olsen Twins would be next) It all doesn’t matter anyway, she said no. Prude….There goes my next house party conversation piece…

Justin Beiber has a “Billy Jean”?

The next little nugget of news involves the Bieb. A woman is actually claiming to have had sex with little helmet head. She says, that her and Justin were both butt naked and bangin’ on the bathroom floor. And just like Shaggy before him…he say’s “It wasn’t me!” When you here the details, it get worst! The woman makes it out to be some kind of seedy rape scene. The kind of rape scene thats in black and white and the film is all grainy. I personally belive Justin…Why? Because I can’t imagine anyone out there ever wanting to touch his “Wee Wee.” I do have a theory though…

The kid wants to be a “King of Pop”…what better way then creating his very own “Billie Jean” scenario? Is it so hard to believe that the Bieb wouldn’t try to stage something like this? Then again…maybe I’m looking to far into it. Maybe I’m looking for things that just aren’t there. The paternity test will tell…Which by the way should happen as soon as he get’s back from his tour over seas…Wouldn’t it be hilarious if he thought he could bluff it, took it…and it was his!? Oh the cries of prepubescent girls across the globe would be DEFENING!!!

Juggalos a Gang? How does that work…?

It’s been a long time coming but finally the FBI now considers the fans of ICP a gang! I’m not saying I agree with it, more I just saw it coming. It’s always the few that ruin it for the lot. To say Juggalos are worthy of being called a gang, is on the same level of saying all Trekkie’s are a gang! Juggalos don’t even know how Magnets work…let along basic fundamentals to a gang…No I know where all of this madness comes from. It stems from stupidity…

It’s no secret, if you go to one of the Gatherings…if you don’t fit in to what they think is cool…those crowds get stupid. Not just Gatherings…other Psychopathic Record shows in general. Not to mention the complex near religious following that the “Joker Cards” have attached to them. ICP fans are a little nutty…but certainly not a gang. In all seriousness, the attention has been drawn to them because of their violence of a smaller group. Much as the two kids from Columbine ruined it for all goth kids. One has to wonder how they are going to police this. All I know, if I were a Juggalo…I wouldn’t mention it out loud. You never know when Big Brother is looking…

Well Kids, this may be the last for fun article for a while. I have got to start working on those short stories. I know you will all love it…

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Remember, Remember, The 5th of November…

“Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot..”- V

The 5th of November is a day that generally just passes by most. Why? Well, most have no idea of the history of the day. Today, 408 years ago, Guy Fawkes planned to blow up Parliament. Now he wasn’t the only one in the Gunpowder Treason Plot, but he was the only one charged. Why does this matter? A lot of reasons I think! My Freaky Darlings, if you will, let us take a look into what Guy Fawkes Day means to me…

From the moment I saw the trailer for the 2006 V for Vendetta, I was interested. Who was this hero? Why did he wear that groovy mask? Upon watching it, I realized it was so much more than a comic book adaptation. The movie had depth, meaning, and taught a fond an idea. The idea being, if your government is doing something wrong, you can’t stand by and do nothing. Doing nothing makes you as guilty as the government you detest. The ideal is, you should always stand up for what you think is right. (Or blow up Parliament for what you think is right..lol…not really) Ever since seeing that movie I have remembered the 5th of November as a day that a man stood for an idea. (But I’m going to be honest with you, V in the movie was more succesful than Fawkes…thus as far as I’m concerned…a better example of the idea…Just saying…)

I’m not the only person to ever be inspired by Guy Fawkes or V, the group many across the web have come to know and love…or hate…Annonymous has adopted the mask and the idea behind it. I have to say, most of the time, I’m not in disagreement with them. They do occasionally stand up for some pretty great things. Kind of makes you wonder what the state of the government would be like if more people stood up for what they…..you know…I’ll drop it here. I find it’s rude to talk about politics in public..It only ever leads to the Darkside…and not the cool Darkside!

At any rate…Happy Guy Fawkes Day to you all!! What ever it may mean to you…a day to ponder politics…a day to take a stand…a day to watch a wicked cool movie…or just another day!! I hope it went well…

*Editor Note: It’s strange writing such a short article like this. Really I’m trying to make it my goal to write something at least once a day…even if it’s small…I’ve got some good stuff on the back burner for you!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Your Luck Has Run Out…Halloween Horror Nights 21

Well, it’s a sad time of year for me. October has ended. My favorite month of the entire year gone just like that. So much has happened this month I can’t begin to tell you everything. Most disappointing is, I wasn’t able to post a quarter of the articles I had planned. INCLUDING my annual review of Halloween Horror Nights 21. This pains me to no end. I feel as though I have failed you all..(All three of my regular readers! Ha Ha!!) So it occurred to me, does the fun really have to stop? I mean, does the horrible fun of Halloween really have to stop because of something as trivial as the month ending? HELL NO!!! If the stores can stock Christmas a week into the Halloween season, I sure as hell can extend my Haunt season! So prepare yourselves…I have every intention of extending my haunt season until Thanksgiving. The review will mark my protest against the end of October. That being said, pull your Jack-O-Lanterns back out…and buy some more candy…this season isn’t over yet. I’ve no idea how this will turn out. To be honest, I’m kind of pulling this all out of my ass! At any rate, let’s take a look back on Halloween Horror Nights 21…

Well, another Halloween Horror Nights has passed…and what a Horror Nights it was! I was absolutely blown away by some of this years houses. This year marks the hardest I’ve ever had to think when ranking them. That’s not to say this year didn’t have room for improvement. It did seem like they put so much attention into the houses and some of the newer aspects of the Scarezones, that they really dropped the ball in the Scarezone department. The easiest way I can paint a picture of this years event is to discuss it one moment at a time. Let’s start with the Houses…In Count Down order!

Houses

8) The Forsaken– This house was really the only let down of the night. I don’t think it was because it was bad. More, I just had higher hopes for it. The hype just didn’t hold up. It has a nice story, that is conveyed rather nicely. (Although, one in our group was convinced the Spanish Troops were actually Gladiators…I didn’t thinks so…but still) The Scareactors just weren’t up to par. All of them had masks with glowy green eyes…not the best choice. The ship’s mast room everyone was talking about wasn’t doing it for me. You could tell that there were dummies and actors in the room (Note: This effect was used entirely too much at the event…and it only really worked once…). Like I said though, it wasn’t all bad. In the beginning there was some pretty nice gore. The wind and rain effects were a nice touch. The best room in my opinion was the tilted room. You were kind of forced to be near the Scareactors in a narrow environment that kept you way off base. One of the coolest effects was a bungee Scareactor. Looked cool seeing him look like he was flying from way out to burst in the room. Still, it just wasn’t up to snuff when you consider the rest of the event.

7) Winters Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery- This was another surprise! I picked this for number 2 and it dropped to number 7! This one really wasn’t that bad…It just wasn’t scary. This house had some of the best visuals I have seen. The grand cemetery facade was just breath-taking. Perfect for a HHN wedding. The cold was a nice touch, which would have been more obvious if it hadn’t been cool that night already. My favorite effect was a half zombie pulling itself across the ground. You see they raised the ground to your right and had a well hidden Scareactors top half-dressed to look like a zombie pulling itself over the ground…you had to see it! One of the crypt scenes was noteworthy as well. The mirror effect used to make a skeleton look like he was crawling out of a big hole would have looked a lot better…If it wasn’t for seeing the mirror that made the effect. The Scareactor dressed as a pile of bones was a could throw back to last years Scareactor dressed like a chair (The chair was less obvious!) I didn’t want it so low, but I just can’t rank a house higher based on how pretty it is.

6) The Thing- OK something was definitely strange about my HHN Spidey Sense…I PICKED THIS FOR NUMBER ONE!!! This house was still what I expected. Really nice creature effects, shit your pants gun shots, and cinematic scenes of sweet The Thing goodness! Really, the fact this one was so low should attest to how good the other one’s were! The animatronics were really more disturbing than I expected. It was hard to look, but then again it was hard to look away. The one hanging out of the ceiling and the one at the very end were the things (Pun intended) nightmares are made of. The gun effects were a lot better than I remember from 07′. I wish I would have seen the movie though. It would have let me know exactly how good the story was told. However, from what I know of the original, they managed to tuck a few of the iconic scenes from the original. (To explain what I mean…If you have never seen the original, there is a scene where the team of the American outpost investigates the aftermath of the Norwegian outpost.) The best of those that I hope people caught was the radio room where you see the operator kill himself. If you stayed in the room long enough, you would see him laid back in the chair wrists out, just like the movie. I also want to mention the over head Scareactor in one room. He really just made you feel nervous.

I only had a few issues with the house as a whole. Unlike the previous The Thing house, the protagonists had no interaction with you. Really it was like you were walking through the movie. You almost felt in the way…Seras waited for one of the actors to shoot in one room. I just wish they would have interacted a little better. My next issues was the “scary” Scareactors. Most of them just looked like they had a tumor growing out of their mouth. The ones toward the end did get better, but the beginning ones were a bit silly.

5) H.R. Bloodengutz Presents Holidays of Horror- From number 7 in the prerank…to the number 5 spot…this house did not disappoint. From beginning to end was a constant onslaught of the campiest horror this side of the SyFy channel (Only it was actually good and entertaining!) I wish I would have had time to watch the que video’s outside. The que showed you clips from the H.R. Bloodengutz show. Each clip was featured in the house, but the rate you go through…you don’t have time to see them. The facade to the house was fitting. It was like you were entering through the back of the TV station. The loading dock smelled like a real loading dock (Not that it’s a hard scent to achieve, but a nice touch none the less!) The guy playing H.R. in the opening room was really into it. He kind of set the mood for the whole house. It’s really funny when you notice some of the holidays. Everything was represented from the big holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving all the way to the obscure like Presidents Day and Arbor Day. The funniest one when you noticed it was St. Patrick’s Day. Your kind of caught off guard at first, until you see the pot of gold and all of the shamrocks. The most imaginative was Presidents Day. When you walked into the room, the key effect was a nuclear bomb going off outside. You see the “Football” suitcase counting down on the president’s desk. When it goes off you hear the loud “BOOM” and the room floods with light. That’s when you notice the mutilated president corpse on the couch and the zombie Abe Lincoln and George Washington. The last I have to mention is Christmas. The only thing I can really say to describe the true epic nature of this section is…Crazy Cartoon Elves with Machine guns…with a murdered Mrs. Clause and a Santa with his head blown off.

4) Nightingales: Blood Prey- From here on in was some of the hardest decision making I’ve ever had to make on houses. All of them were top contenders and this one was no slouch. Let me first say, this had a really imaginative concept. I really didn’t know how they would pull off the trench atmosphere. It could have went either way, but they knocked it out of the park. The facade made my jaw drop. I couldn’t belive the grand scale of it all. When you first enter, you only really see German soldiers for a scene. To be honest, the Nightingales are more terrifying. One of the effects that stuck with me was a soldier trying his damnedest to protect you and move you out of the area. As he is telling you to run and stay down, he is grabbed from behind. All that’s left when she pulls him away is his bleeding legs. The rest of the house is full of some of the best gore I’ve seen at HHN. Honorable mention goes to the soldier laying out on a table just spewing “blood” into the air. Made everyone get the creeps. I was really concerned about the masks at first, but you know upclose…they work.  I don’t really remember having any real problems with this house. I think I just wish it would have been longer.

3) Saws N Steam: Into the Machine- From right here just let me say, any preconceived notions I may have had this year for a house just because of the location…well now they are right out the window. The location of these top houses usually held the background starters of years past. Now they hold the best ones! I had high hopes for this house. As good as the Scarezone was last year, it had a lot to live up to. If there is one thing this house proved, it’s that you can take a really good Scarezone and turn it into an epic house! I don’t even know where to start. The whole house was done so great. You really felt as though you walked into a giant machine-made for extracting fluids. The story line was told clearly. The effects were top notch. Everything from people being mutilated on a table to canisters of meat being squished to squeeze every last drop out. The further your journey takes you…you see more and more water. One room is lined with what looks like fish tanks on all sides. Closer inspection reveals those aren’t fish in those tanks…but bits and pieces that slipped through. As you make it to the last scenes, your faced with a giant waterfall with a man in an old-fashioned dive suit behind it splashing water at you. It’s at this point you remember…the only way these people have water is to harvest it…THAT’S ALOT OF FREAKIN’ WATER!!! I really hope they use this house as an example of what to do for future years. Maybe we will see a 7 house next year…hmmm….

2) The In Between- This house set a new standard for all 3D houses…HELL..Effect houses in general. I picked this one for dead last and it nearly walked away with number one. One of the easiest ways to describe this house is a bad acid trip…A REALLY, REALLY BAD ACID TRIP!!! From beginning to end, the whole maze became an all out war on your senses. Sight, Touch, Sound, and I believe in one part Smell…It could have been someone crapping themselves come to think of it…anyway…all of these became your worst nightmare. There was one room with laser lights being sprayed everywhere. If you looked down, you felt as if you would drop off the face of the Earth. To top it all off, you had these near invisible black strings hanging down and hitting you. Giving ou the feeling you could feel the laser dot’s. The rooms that had creatures in them…you couldn’t see them until the wall came to life. AND BEFORE I FORGET!!! The spinning walkway was the worst it has ever been. I feel like I’m going to fall down when I walk through this effect when it’s normal. Add 3D and BAM! No Bueno!!! I cam close to naming this my number one. But, their was something the number one house had that this one didn’t…

1) Nevermore: The Madness of Poe- I have been a fan of Edgar Allan Poe since…well…EVER!!! I had to think on this one for a while because I wanted to make sure that it was the house that made this number one and not the little goth kid deep down inside. The whole maze painted a brilliant story and captured the very essence of Poe’s madness. The first scene you are faced with is Poe writing at his table frantically in an alcohol fueled rage. The most I can guess is this is supposed to be when the madness takes him over. As you progress you walk through the incarnations of some of his better stories. If memory serves me right, it was Tell Tale Heart, Pit and the Pendulum, and Black Cat. Tell Tale Heart was the coolest of those three. As you walked in, the same scene of the narrator tearing open the floor boards revealing the heart is recreated on every wall and even the ceiling. My first scare in this house came from the Scareactor hanging out of a hole in the wall. I loved the beating heart noise as well. The second act of this house came when you entered a grand hall. At the top of a stair case you could see Poe swaying back and forth drunk of of his mind. Beware though, the spirits of his late wife haunted the room at every turn. And I do mean EVERY turn! I can’t remember the exact sequence of events after this point but I can tell you this…Masque of the Red Death and Cask of Amontillado were the bomb diggity! Cask was creepy when you looked to the right and say a skeleton chained inside a wall. Even worst was when you looked to the left and saw Poe Bricking YOU in.

The only part I thought was a bit silly, was the giant ravens. Not that they were bad. They were very cool…but all I could think about was the Big Horney Bird from Hell in Little Nicky. I would have just died if they would have started dancing to the tune of “Ladies Night.” That was really the only thing I found off, and even that wasn’t really off. Just more of a humorous observation.

Now that I’ve went through the Houses…it’s time to attack the Scarezones. I still have mixed feelings about the Scarezones. Some of them really weren’t the best, but I still liked some parts. However, my number 1 Scarezone this year is my all time favorite. Let’s examine shall we:

Scarezones

6) Nightmaze As much as a good idea as this zone sounded on paper…it equally failed to deliver. I just felt like something could have been done to make it better. I liked the thought of a moving zone. The actors had a good idea going with no caring if you were coming or not and closing off sections to make you go back. But the way it was designed just looked sort cheap and last-minute. Really you could recreate this area at your own house if you wanted. One time out of three was decent going through it. It just wasn’t up to par.

5) Your Luck is Up- The new team that has taken over this event since Michael Roddy left has done one thing in both HHN XX and HHN XXI that I have not liked…The Icon of the event has not had a house. With Fear it wasn’t a big deal. The Scarezone was enough. For Lady Luck, we had a nice story line. A story line that was wasted because their was noting to tell it. Consider for a moment, if you will, the zone that was in Sting Ally last year. Saws N’ Steam was a great zone (My personal favorite of all time until this year!) So you can’t blame the area. The set design was OK…but it was the same thing at either end. It was home to 5 Luck Scareactors, 3 Monster and 2 Normal. This made the area very predictable. The whole distraction tactic was easy to see through. It looked cool, but it was just kind of meh…Not what I would expect after seeing last years zones.

* Editors Note: The area that they used to take pictures with Lady Luck served as a better zone for the Icon…

4) Grown Evil- This Scarezone was pretty good. It brought me back to the year they had Harvest of Souls. The creatures were pretty decent. Not sure why the Bat Stilt Walkers all had boobs that were like “Look at me!!” Maybe there are some Furries on the creative team…I don’t know! I’m not complaining about that. My complaint, and this could have just been their direction for the night, I couldn’t get not one damn picture of them! Everytime I went for one, they would cover up or turn their head. It was frustrating to say the least. So for punishment…Your at Number 4!! Ha! Now who get’s the last laugh. Also the actors didn’t try near as hard as they should have to scare Seth or Myself. On another note I did like that they used Silent Hill music in the area. It was a nice touch.

3) Canyon of Dark Souls- From the first pictures I had seen of this area, I didn’t expect much. It really wasn’t that bad in the long run. With wind blowing it made it impossible to see where the Scareactors would come out of. The costumes did a good job of blending in. The music was fierce and the fire effect was great. I also enjoyed the area being lit only by the light of the fire. Seth was dressed as Death the Kid from Soul Eater so he had ton’s of fun with the Scareactors. He kept wondering if they were all members of the Death Family. People were loving it…I don’t think this zone’s actors got it, but believe it or not there was more than once he was noticed. My only problem? This zone could have been a lot bigger.

2) Acid Assault- I liked this area and at the same time felt it had room for improvement. The effects used to make the buildings look like they were falling apart were epic. I can’t wait to see how these effects are used in future years. The music was fitting. The set dressing was spot on, and the Scareactors I did see looked good. My only issue was the lack of Scareactors. The area had next to no scares. It looked great and that’s why it got so high on my list. However, it ended up being Michael Bay…all style…no substance. You might be thinking to yourself, “Malice, it just sounds like the Scarezones this year were all awful!” Well, I still have one more to tell you about…

1) 7- Words can’t accurately describe my love for this Scarezone. This zone was able to do so much with very little. You can honestly say it was the actors that made this area. I loved that it changed as the night progressed too. When you first got there, the ladies that represented the deadly sins were rather tame. The minions still offered scares. I mean, they can’t sacrifice that just for effect. The music playing all around was a choir version of Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People.” As we progressed through the zone, the actors were very responsive, acting out perfectly what their sin was. The Lust guys were my favorites. Before we left, my friends Lenny and Seth were both molested. This spells a good time in my book.

Later on in the night, I decided I should go back through and catch anything I might have missed. I was really interested to see how the 7 zone had progressed. What I walked into was so much better than expected. The music had changed from a choir version to the real version. The girls that once looked to be temptresses, were warpped completely by their sin. The pictures and the video I’m going to include will say it all. It was like you walked into a night club gone terribly wrong. Like you were in a horror movie, and this was the big reveal. It has even inspired me for a short story. I just can’t say enough right now. Hats off to you Uni! Take a bow!

Now I know this review has been rather long, but I still have things to go over. Mostly I want to discuss the shows and the icon. Then I will close this mother, and let you and me have a nice nights sleep…

Shows

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure- I’m not going to lie, I get less impressed with this show as the years go by. Last year I nearly gave them an excuse, until I looked back and found they DID have a lot of funny stuff to go off of. This year had even more than last year, so that excuse went WAYYYYY out the window. I will say that it was better than last years…but that’s like saying a you have a higher IQ than the guy with a lead pipe coming out of his head. I just think they get to afraid when it comes to making fun of anything Disney has done. You don’t have to make it the same character, you can get around it and make it just as funny. Which they did do in one instance (El Capitano Mexicano anyone?) One of the funniest things of the whole night was a bit they had using Jeff Bridges’ character from True Grit. All of the things they could have used, they used wrong…I mean…COME THE FUCK ON PEOPLE!!! Man up! Rent Seth McFarland for Christ sake…OR Trey Parker and Matt Stone…SOMETHING!!! I did this one first this year…Next year, you can  be sure it will be dead last on my priority list.

OH…and before I forget…Drop some of the music numbers! They add more every year…and they get less impressive every year. If I want to go to a PG-13 strip club…well I wouldn’t go to a PG-13 strip club!! So just…NO!!

Death Drums- I did not get to see this show up close and personal. No, I decided to go to Bill and Ted…*sigh*…BUT, I have seen it via the wonders of the internet. I have to say i was really impressed. It was nice to see Brian Brushwood was gone. I do hope this show comes back for next year. The drummers and dancers were all very talented…I’ll add the video for you below. It speaks louder than my words.

*Editor Note: Video is from Inside the Magic…be sure to give their YouTube channel and show some love…

Icon

I have mixed feelings about the Icon this year. Lady Luck was a wonderful Icon…the way she was portrayed in the media and promotions. When you got to the event, all of the Lady Lucks (except the Monster version) were just kind of…there. They didn’t talk…they didn’t elicit a response…you might as well have put a Royal Gaurd in a green dress! I just didn’t get how you go from the one on the advertisements and the one you met. I also really enjoyed the connections between the houses and Luck. She had a great story…the delivery just wasn’t there.

In Conclusion

Taking everything into consideration, It wasn’t a bad night. It wasn’t the best HHN ever, but it wasn’t the worst either. I think HHN XX set that bar too high. I still see seeds that were planted this year that I’, sure will blossom into something great next year. I spent HHN with great friends. Some I just met, some I’ve been with before. HHN wouldn’t be the same without you guys. Special thanks to Seth Garner, Lenny Mosco, Amanda Rivera, Cullen Wheeler, and of course my lovely Seras Psychotik! Thank you Amanda and Bo Van Hassel for watching the Demon Seed, you helped a lot in all of this as well.

* Editors Note: I didn’t think about this until later, but I can’t help but wonder why they used so many masks this year. I hope this isn’t a new trend because some of the masks really ruined the realism. Nothing like getting into a performance…and then seeing a blatant mask line…

Lenny Buddy, I hate that you weren't in this picture...let me talk to an associate of mine and we shall remedy this...

ALSO!!! Incase you think I forgot about us being at IOA during the day…think again! I remember the pain very well. NEVER AGAIN shall we go to the park for the whole day before doing HHN. NEVERMORE!!! It was fun…just too exhausting. I will give an update on that…but it will be later. November 12th I will be going to one day of the Harry Potter Celebration for a thus far unnamed Q & A session. So, look forward to that!

That’s all for now Freaky Darlings, stay tuned for more to come. Here’s to HHN past and looking to HHN future…

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Taking a Stand…

As most of you know, I like to have a lot of fun on this site. Most everything I do never has any real gravity to it, mostly because I feel the world is much to depressing to focus on the bad. Sometime though, something happens that I just can’t ignore. If you have been paying attention to the new in the last couple of weeks, you might have heard the Jamey Rodemeyer’s name. Jamey was a 14-year-old boy who was bullied so bad he decided to take his own life. After months of struggling, he couldn’t take it anymore. The bullies ground this boy’s beautiful spirit down to nothing but a hollow lonely shell. The week prior to his death, he cried out for help several times via social networks. His final words included a thank you to Lady Gaga…

Jamey you will be missed...I'm sure you are in a better place...

I honestly had to think on this topic for a while. So many emotions followed through my head! Rage, Anger, Sadness, Sympathy…etc. All of these emotions and I don’t even know this boy! One thing that got me the most, I don’t know what makes this boy different from others that have died. The bullying problem has been escalating for the last 3 years and their have been many casualties. So why does this boy matter so much? Maybe it’s because you could see his blatant cries for help. Maybe it’s because I can relate to being bullied, and feeling nobody is listening. MAYBE it’s because this is the last straw and shit needs to get under control!!! What ever the reason be, this boys death has sparked a media wild-fire. Lady Gaga as well as other celebrities have ramped up a campaign against this growing issue. I feel it’s a step in the right direction. However, I recently uncovered another opinion….

Some people think that this is going to glorify suicide. That by fighting in Jamey’s name, you are sending the wrong message. They think this will paint suicide as “sympathetic” or a “viable way out.” My response? FUCK YOU! If anything, I believe the message that is being sent is a positive one. Nobody has glorified this. Nobody has said what he did was the right thing to do. The message I’m seeing is one that says, “Not one more innocent life needs to be lost!” So this is my stand…this is my message to all of you:

Darlings, if anyone reading this knows someone thinking of suicide…please…don’t stand by and watch your friend die. If you have never been to that dark place in your mind, you really don’t know. A person that is thinking of committing suicide is in a very dark place. They are in a place that it’s hard to see a light out. Imagine being lost in a deep dark cave. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to find the light to take you out. Eventually you lose hope. If you think they are getting stronger, think again. Sometimes, they just give up calling out for help. If you suspect someone close to you is in that place, I’m begging you…find them help. Offer them support and let them know you DO care. The worst thing you can do is let them figure it out themselves.

To anyone reading this that has or is contemplating suicide…Don’t. I know you think this is it. I know you think no one cares. Your wrong…at the very least…if you are reading this, that means you cared enough to read my site and support it with your views. I care! If you think know one else will talk to you, email me! Go to the Facebook and chat me, I will listen. Don’t let others ground you down because you are different. You are beautiful just the way you are. If they have to stomp your flame out, it’s because yours burn brighter than their’s! Your life has worth. Never ever doubt that….

I offer these words in the hopes they will reach someone and help. If my typing this helps even one person, I would feel accomplished. I keep thinking to myself, what if that would have been one of my Freaky Darlings? What if that boy was one of my readers? I will leave you all with the touching tribute Lady Gaga gave for Jamey at one of her performances…

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Halloween Horror Nights 21…House and Scarezone Pre-rank

Hello, Freaky Darlings! As some may or may not know, Halloween Horror Nights released all info on the 31st. I’ve waited a bit to post this, if not only for the fact I wanted to see what else the website was going to do. The wait was worth it, because the site still has a couple of tricks up its sleeve. I’ll get to all of that in due time. For now, I want to talk about the houses and zones. This is the first year I’ve gotten around to doing so much with HHN before the event, so I think now will be the time to make my predictions for how I’m going to rank the houses and zones. I feel this early in the game with knowing only what the website says will make my opinion a little less biased. This year is going to be hard. I have like 4 houses tied for the number one spot! Alas, I will try to be fair….

(Editor’s Note: I broke my own rule in the process of doing this article. Opening night came and went and I had to sneak a peek at the scarezones. So far no videos for the houses…so it’s only a little cheat…DON’T JUDGE ME!!!)

House Pre-Rank

(I’ll start in reverse. Kind of like a count down…)

8. The In-Between- This one rounds out my bottom. Not because I don’t think it will be a good house, but because I don’t think it will be near as awesome as the others. I could be wrong! This house is another 3D house, which is not really a bad thing. I believe the last I was in that was 3D was in 07′ (Jacks Funhouse in Clown-O-Vision). Even then, that house wasn’t bad, it was just more a trippy thrill ride. I tend to rank this type of house more like a fun house. The description, however, tells a different tale. According to the website, this house is supposed to be in your face terror as you step into a third dimension with terrible creatures around every corner. So you never know, this one could push its way up the list!

Using the website as a tool to imagine what we will be dealing with, I can’t tell much. On the HHN Facebook page, they have released a picture from inside the house. It didn’t seem really “scary”…more it looked like something out of a black light painting. This house was represented by the Green Card in the backroom (“Certain Rune”). There really isn’t much that you can figure out from that game. Although now the Carnival of Carnage ferris wheel makes a lot more sense! Maybe when the second game goes active and I can unlock the special pages, I will have more to add to this article. I will note that this house is in the newer Parade building, and that spot does have a tendency to yield very pleasing houses.

(Editor Note: Since I have started writing this, a few things have been said about this house. Uni is claiming that this house will be like no other 3D house to date. They also promise there is a scene in this house so epic, they need not tell you what it is. You will know it when you see it. And when you see it, you will talk about it for years to come…)

7. H.R Bloodengutz presents Holidays of Horror- This one pulls into my number 7 only because I know this one is going to be a hilarious house, not a frightening one. Not to say that it is bad, but again I just don’t think it will hold up to the others. Keep in mind, the funny house from last year nearly took the number 1 spot. Don’t count it out! The story is of a horror host at the end of his career, and he is going to make sure you never forget him. The house boasts that it will be a collage of various B rated holiday horror films. (Home for the Holidays ala 2007 anyone?)

From what I have unlocked on the site, the story behind the house is pretty tight. H.R Bloodengutz is a failed theatrical actor that had to turn to Horror Hosting to stay in the biz. Now, years later, he finds himself canceled and out the door. This doesn’t sit well with him. After delivering so many years of faithful service, he deserves a grand exit…and he’s going to give it to you. There is a piece of a police report detailing an assault on the station manager. Also, there is a recording from H.R’s answering machine. You really get the feeling that this is something he didn’t want to do, Horror Hosting. He wanted a position in a more theatrical environment. I’m not sure if it will be important that his uncle was a taxidermist, and he was going to work with him…but it was mentioned. Incase you want to know how to unlock it, you will have to play both Yellow card games. Last, I will mention this house is going to be in the Disaster que. Houses in this area have been pretty good, but so far I belive there has only been one that really blew me away. We will see.

6. The Forsaken- I picked this as my number 6. I do believe that this house has potential to move further along up the list. The concept is really cool and I enjoy any house that is mixed with real history. Gives it a bit of a realistic element. Also, this house is firmly planted in the parade building. So far, I have yet to see a sour house come out of that building. INFACT…the last two years Encyclopedia Psychotika has went to HHN (2008 and 2010) that building has housed my favorite house for that year. Not that the location really matters, but if it did, that would set the bar pretty high.

The story follows the fate of the doomed 4th ship of Columbus’ Voyage. With the flip of a coin, the captain and crews fate was sealed. Years later, the crew still haunts their final resting place. Filled with rage from a terrible death, you will feel their wrath. Looking to the website for clues, their isn’t a whole lot more than what I’ve mentioned. The back of a picture frame on the desk establishes the ship as a member of Columbus’ fleet. A piece of parchment shows you a decree by the Queen. This decree says the leader of the voyage should be decided by a coin toss. The last piece of paper is a decree, seems to be written in blood, that states that 4th ship should be erased from history. That no one is to ever speak of the captain or the crew ever again. I’m guessing this has pissed them off. I’m curious to see what the actual house will tell us.

5. Saws N’ Steam: Into the Machine- I toiled over this one. The next houses in this series are very hard to rank. Mostly because they all look awesome. This is the first year I have had this big of a tie for number one!! Usually it’s only between 2, but this year…just wow. Back to the maze, this is the first time HHN has ever taken a past Scarezone and turned it into a house. Last year Saws N’ Steam got my number 1 for Scarezones. The only reason it is further down on the list is because of the sheer number of great looking houses. I have extremely high hopes for this one. The only check I see so far, is the location. The house is located in the Jaws que. Not that every house that comes out of this area is bad…I’ve just not had a favorite yet. The area is limited with what you can do. I’m just hoping the area doesn’t clash with the Steam Punk atmosphere.

From what I can tell from the info available, it seems this houses back story involves a fake cult. The people who were featured in Saws N’ Steam the zone need people to take water from. I’m guessing that they have created a cult or some sort of community that promises a better life if you give everything to them. So as you might have guessed, once you get in…your not leaving. At least not with all of your bodily fluids. Last I checked, water in your body was a good thing.

4. Nevermore: The Madness of Poe- This spot nearly went to Saw N’ Steam: Into the Machine. However the little goth kid in me would have slashed my insides until I bled out! I love Edgar Alan Poe and am thrilled to see a house built around him and his books. I especially love the tie in to Lady Luck, and can’t wait to know more. I’ll get to that in a minute, for now allow me to get giddie. Some of you may ask yourselves in a Canadian accent, “Why didn’t he put this at number one if like’s it so much, eh?’ Well, from here on out, these houses are all tied for number one!!!They are just all so damn good! The only thing I find disappointing about this house is it is in a Sprung Tent. I would have loved to see this house get the Soundstage treatment.

Now…about the house. The Madness of Poe is supposed to be a trip into one of the darkest literary minds known to man! From the website you can see there was a choice that Lady Luck had influence over. He was on the wrong end of that choice, thus giving a reason to his mysterious death (I love you Universal Creative!!). Not much is clickable on the hints for this house. There is a news article establishing the winner of the game of chance gone wrong. There is also a nifty poem written by Poe about Lady Luck. I’m assuming there will be more of a story told within the house. I might also add that a preview video spread around online revealed a few books used as scenes in the house. I was able to pick out: “Tale Tell Heart,” “The Raven,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” “Fall of the House of Usher,” “Pit Pendulum,” and “Masque of the Red Death.” I can only hope there will be more! Moving on…

3. Nightingales: Blood Prey- I love that Universal has elected to add so many real-world elements into some of these houses. This is the third I have mentioned so far that is actually based in history. Might I also add how cool it is they chose WWI instead of WWII. I always love what they do with soundstage houses. Even if they aren’t great, they look fantastic. The house setting win’s me over as well. Trench warfare is terrifying to think about in general. So many hiding places…I’m giddy with delight!

The story behind this follows a victim of Lady Luck that decided to go overseas instead of helping his family business back home, (See kid’s…Family First…they keep you from being mauled to death by fanged blood-sucking freaks!!) Following the hints given, you can tell the soldier in question has become injured. His crossing of paths with Nightingales comes from his stay in the military hospital. You see by night the nurses have a deadly secret…they aren’t nurses at all (I wonder if his HMO knows this?!) You see the Nightingales stalk their prey when they are injured until they are at their weakest. Unfortunately for our soldier, I think he is at that point…and what do you know….He’s just in time for supper. Fortunatly…so are we…or unfortunatly depending on how adventurous you are!

2. Winter’s Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery– Seras and Myself have very high expectations for this house. It has an interesting back story, it’s in an old style graveyard, it’s winter time, AND it’s in a soundstage. A few F/X have been released. Of course there is a cold effect. To top that off there is supposed to be real snow! I’m curious as to whether they are going to handle the scareactors as zombies or ghosts. I’m hoping both!! I want the type of ghost F/X they used in Wyndott Estate from last year.

Lady Luck sinks her teeth into a victim here with a choice. That choice was as simple as where a newly wed couple wanted to pick the land for their new home. Apparently, Mr. Hawthorn chose wrong, because his wife died of mysterious circumstance. After her death, he turned the land into a cemetery. Now there is a legend saying that the dead come back to life once every hundred years…and what do you know…Happy Anniversary!

1. The Thing- One of my favorite houses from 2007 is back with a vengence…sort of. This one is based off of the new prequal coming out soon and this time it get’s the soundstage treatment. So what happens when one of Malice’s all time favorite movies get’s the treatment it deserves? It makes me bounce of the walls with excitement! They also manage to tie it in pretty well to the Lady Luck theme.

Apparently one of the characters from the movie (or so I am guessing) is flying a Helicopter and needs some gas. She has the choice, either land in a village close by and take longer to get back in the air or land at a research facility and barely make it. You guessed it…that research base is the one with the copycat alien running amok. Judging off of the last Thing house, Uni knows what they are doing. Taking what they already know they should be able to kick it up another notch. Keep in mind this house is tied with three others, so you never know it may end up lower down. Time will tell.

Scarezone Pre-Rank

Okay, when ranking these, I’m not going to go to far into the description. More I’ll give you a short summary as to what I’m looking forward to from what I have seen online.

6. Canyon of Dark Souls- I put this one last only because there wasn’t anything that really blew me away in the videos I have seen. Then again, camera angles are everything. In person it could be completely different.

5. 7- I would like to put 7 higher, but the main draw is going to be the outfit changes. There are three outfit changes through the night. Seeing all of them together may paint a better picture and make me love this one more.

4. Nightmaze- As much as I would love to put this higher, you really can’t see much here. Yes, I’m aware that’s the point…but still. I didn’t see any scareactors in the area, but then again you really just couldn’t see much! It could be really good in person.

3. Grown Evil- Every picture I’ve seen from this zone intrigues me. The characters look very cool and the scenery looks even better. I must add, I also gave it kudos because they use a main theme from Silent Hill in the area! It’s just one of those themes that add an extra air of eerieness.

2. Your Luck Has Run Out- I have to put the Icon Scarezone high up. I love this years Icon and her back story. I love the 20’s speak easy feel and am expecting a lot out of this zone. Maybe I’m setting myself up for disappointment? I don’t know…

1. Acid Assault- From everything I have seen, this Scarezone looks like hands down the best. The effects in the zone look top-notch. My only concern is lack of scareactors. It’s still to early to tell though. That zone is really open, and the opening nights rained out. Taking that into account, the scareactors may have not been so active. Still, the acid damaged building falling apart look great.

That’s pretty much all I can say at this time. The website looks really nice in all of its entirety. This year looks like it’s going to be legendary. It just seems like the 19th isn’t coming soon enough…THAT REMINDS ME!!!!

ATTENTION ALL FREAKY DARLINGS!!!

Enyclopedia Psychotika will be at Halloween Horror Nights October, 19th 2011! We will be there all day. I’m currently planning a few things to tell you all where we will be and when. If you are going to be in the area, come out and say hi! Anybody I see that day will have their picture taken and used on the review for the event! DETAILS COMING SOON!!!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Possible Houses? A Good Guess at Halloween Horror Nights 21…

Hello Freaky Darlings! I hope you all enjoyed my last update for Halloween Horror Nights 21…I’m sure it should keep all of your mouths wet until the 31st. This update is not really an update…but more an after thought to the last one. I rushed the last update out, so there was no time to discuss possible house themes for this year. I’ve done some searching, and I’ve found what others have suggested. Taking what they have said into consideration I do have my own notes as well. The way I will break it down is by the game on the site with corresponding color…Here’s what I think:

Red Card- The Horizon- When you start this game you are given an unfinished questionnaire. The questionnaire is asking you about a new utopian society known as The Horizon. At the end your asked a True or False question…if you answer True, you are allowed to play the game. The game is a steam punk matching game. You have to pull the levers, it will reveal a picture and you match it. Standard matching game…however you have a count down clock on the left and on the right you have a tube of water that moves down the more levers you pull…so you have two things working against you.

I think this game points to the rumors of a Saws and Steam house. Last year that was one of the best Scarezones and it really deserves a proper house. Everything about it points to that. The background throws you off with an air of a school house…and the fact it looks like you are sitting at a school desk. However the art for the play card has a saw…and if you look closely…there is a saw drawn on the table…My vote is for Saws and Steam….

Orange Card- Loose Cannon- To get into this game you have a coin toss. Select heads and it will take you to the game. This game focuses around stopping a cannon from rolling all the way to either side of the ship. As the ship moves back and forth you have to move your cutlass in the opposite direction…while you do this…you have to focus on cutting a line on either side. You have two chances to get the right ones to balance it out…prepare to pull your hair out trying to win this one…

As far as the theme goes…this is hard. Most think it is going to have to do with a Pirate Ship…more specifically…Screamscape seems to think a Spanish Pirate Ghost Ship. I actually think that this is a sound theory. There is really nothing to throw you off. It is a pirate ship…and if you pay attention the coin you flip is a Spanish gold coin. My Vote? Spanish Pirate Ghost Ship it is!

Pink Card- You’re Toast- The choice you have to make to get into this game revolves around landing a helicopter. You have two choices…left takes you to a Norwegian base the right takes you….OK I don’t know where just don’t go right….When you get to the game you have a flame thrower and 5 dark figures are coming closer to you. Three of the are “Things”, Two are human…don’t shoot the humans…

Obviously this house points to The Thing. The Thing has already been released as a house..so there really is no guessing here. Like I said, it’s very obvious….

Blue Card- Don’t Judge a Book- To get into this house you have the choice to ship off to Boston.(Like the Drop Kick Murphy Song) or take a ship to Baltimore. Pick the land of the Raven…Baltimore and you enter a game where you have to choose 5 books. Be careful though, bugs have eaten two of them…and if you find thse…it’s game over. Choose carefully…

Rumors say this one points to a Edgar Alan Poe house. Strange thing is, HOS was rumored to have one of those as well…could it all be a rouse? Uni has been known to mess with us around this time of year…But the evidence is there…You take a trip to Baltimore…All of the books you find are from around Poe’s time period…What does this psycho think? I actually am going to go against the popular rumors here! As much fun as I think it would be to have a Poe house…I almost think they are screwing with us…Maybe a possibility would be a more classical literary version of Scary Tales? Well, we only have a couple more days untill we find out…I vote Classic Literary Scary Tales….But I’m not ruling out Poe…

Dark Purple- Enlist- To gain access to this game you are presented with two posters. The one on the left that says “Fight” is the one you want. The object of the game is to pick the boxes that don’t explode. If you hit three explosions…your done…

This seems to point to a World War II house, and the rumor mill points to the same. Old WWII posters, the game looks like a the car is 1940’s military, it’s in a trench. It doesn’t really point to anything else. Now I did have some theory’s as to what type of WWII scene it would be. Two films had scenes dealing with that very same war this year. One was Captain America: First Avenger. The other was in Sucker Punch, (There is a scene that seems to be a steam punk version of either WWII or WWI…And i have to say Steam driven zombies would be cool…but it would be a gross over use of Steam this year)…So my vote for this will have to stick with the World War II theme…I’m just curious as to the execution of it…

Yellow Card- Channel Surfing- To access this game, you have to choose the right line on the telephone. Line 2 is a Taxidermist…ad Line 10 is the cable company…Pick Line 10! This game you are faced with nine TV’s…of these three are bad…pick the good 6 and you win.

I belive rumor mill is a bit off on this one. Some are saying they have pictures to prove this one. They say this one should be a holiday haunt…but I don’t know. Using what you have, you seem to be more in a security office. BUT all the TV’s are playing old black and white horror movies. To me this suggests maybe a house dealing with old movies coming to life? Maybe I’m not looking far enough into it, and the security office is in a mall and it will be set around the holidays…I think that would be stretching. Then again, the whole thing could be irrelevant! Seras seems to have a gut feeling (or more a fan girl want) for there to be another Psychoscarapy…maybe it’s a psyche ward security room…Hmmm I kind of vote against the norm on this and say Old Monster Movie House….

Turquoise Card- The Key- To get into this game you are presented with 3 graves. The one on the far right is the one you’ll need. From there, you are taken to a game where you have 3 crypts and 5 doors. Get all three and the lanterns light and you win…get them wrong and you sacrifice tokens…

This one everyone says leads to a graveyard house. I’m not real sure about to tell you the truth. They don’t give you a lot to go off of…maybe if I knew more about famous cemetaries…I don’t know. Some think the name on the right tombstone may be Lady Luck’s real name…thus hinting that one to be the Icon house and thus have nothing to do with a graveyard…Only time will tell. As far as a vote, I really don’t have one so I will just go with the Graveyard theory I suppose…

Green Card- Certain Rune- This one is a thinker…and the answer key is right in front of you. Select the block of runes to start the game. When you get there, you have a board you have to place the rune pieces on. Simple…right? WRONG!! Supposedly you can write down the runes and put them into that position…the catch is which way is going to follow….clockwise or counter clockwise…either way the odds are stacked against you.

What do I think this game represents? I think it’s the Icon House! Rumor mill will simply tell you that this house is just something about Runes. I beg to differ…it may have something to do with Runes…if that ties into the Icon! If you look on the shell in the lower right hand corner there is a sphere that looks like a weird crystal ball. If you look closely you will see Lady Luck’s reflection in it. I was looking at it today after seeing all of the Lady Luck Pictures and noticed it First her hair…then her Ace of Spades card…it fits…so you know what my vote is! Let’s see if I’m right….

Well, those are my guesses. We will see how right I was (or Wrong) August 31, 2011…I can’t wait!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Meet Lady Luck!! Halloween Horror Nights 21 Icon Leaked!!

Hello, My Freaky Darlings! I have a treat that I’m sure you will love. You know how Burger King is always one of the main sponsors in Halloween Horror Nights? Well in a year that has been shrouded in mystery thus far. A year that Universal has been so tight-lipped about everything and anything Halloween Horror Nights…a leak sprung in their dam!! Yes ladies and gentleman, thanks to a leak from Burger King we now have a good look at what our icon for this years event looks like! The picture that I have, was actually passed to me by a secondary source…(You really have to love Facebook sometimes! Ha Ha!!)…the person that uploaded the photo’s name is Ferdinand Lopez (We thank you dearly! I give credit where it is due and you sir made a find!) The person that passed it along to me is long time Encyc. Psych. Fan, Joe Edenfeild…So without any more a due and no more wait…It’s with great pleasure this psycho brings you…..Lady Luck!!!

But wait….THERE’S MORE!!! searching through YouTube yesterday I managed to stumble upon a video. The content of this video just so happens to be a rough cut of the commercial for this year…or so it says anyway. ANYWAY!!! It looks completely legit…I just hope to Cthulhu that they change the music and retouch the sound a bit…I’ll just hurry and let you see it! I know you fellow HHN fanboys are geeking your pants for this….

* Editor Note: If anyone knows more about this video do let me know and I will mention it along with your name! By the way the YouTube channel I pulled this from is JeffreyChangaHHN…do leave him a comment and a like or two for finding such a jewel!

At any rate, I will be sure to make another update when they release all the details on the site on August 31, 2011….so stay tuned to HalloweenHorrorNights.com for that. With all this being said….

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Psychotik Review: Insidious

Ha Ha Ha! Hello, Freaky Darlings! Welcome to another Psychotik Review. The subject of tonight, the creepy craze sweeping the horror community, Insidious. This was a hard movie for me to review. It took me some time to organize my thoughts about it. I didn’t really know how the movie made me feel. I’ll get into all of that below, the most I will say before we get into this is: For once I have a movie I’m reviewing that I can actually dissect….

Psychotik Review: Insidious

-Story

The story starts out with a pretty regular concept of paranormal activity and moves to a more interesting one. You have some basic bump in the night sort of stuff, cheap thrills really. Then you move into the main act when one of the main characters little boys falls into a strange coma. You immediately get the feeling this coma is completely paranormal. Unless of course you think the ghosts and other activity have nothing to do with it. It get’s so bad our family moves to another place. Big surprise, it doesn’t go away. You are introduced to some rather cool characters through the course of all of this mess (I’ll get to that in a minuet). The story comes to a head when a psychic is called and she reveals a family secret that the father is astral projector as well as the boy. You see what happened is, the boy projected away from his body and is lost. It’s all up to super dad to go on a hunt through “The Further” to find his little boy before some ghost or a little Red Faced Demon (Code Named Darth Maul Demon…Seriously, check it out) posses’ him.

Now That I have that out of the way, let me explain what I thought of it. The plot is a good one…if only it would have decided where it was going. To me the movie felt like it was all over the place. Like it just kept jumping around without ever resolving anything. It was entertaining, but there was one spot toward the end that I was just like “How the hell did we get here?” That’s not the actors fault….Not even really the Director….thats more a writing sort of thing. Unless of course the Director cut a few scenes that would have made more sense. You just never really knew who the real threat was. It sort of settles on it…and then it just totally goes out of the way to piss on that as well. You’ll get it at the end.

Don't count on that though...these two stared in it and they don't...

(Here’s the trailer…maybe it can give you a better idea as to what the movie is about…I doubt it…)

-Acting

This is where I can give them a lot of credit. The movie really did have top-notch casting. Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye…even the creature actors J. Larose, Joseph Bishara, and Philip Freidman. They all do a wonderful job with the roles they have. I more give credit to Lin Shaye and her team of paranormal investigators…they were awesome. The creature’s did a good job at their being creepy. The old lady and The Long Haired Fiend are the things that horror legend is made of! I just wish they would have had more screen time. J. Larose and the Demon were the most frighening. They just didn’t offer them enough screen time. Again another problem with direction and writing…On the whole though, I say Acting was a big plus.

Look Kids! Darth Maul!!

-Overall Effect

My overall opinion of the film is it interesting but unorganized. It looks pretty, the concept is good, the creatures and ghosts are well done…but I just can’t get over the scatter-brained feeling it gives as well. I also would like to add that James Wan doesn’t deliver on attempting to be Sam Rami. I’m not kidding! Seriously, watch it and tell me you don’t get the feeling for a second Sam Rami Directed this. Maybe he was doing it as a nod to him, but I know it doesn’t work for him…It’s really good thought if you’re looking for a creepy cool time. I might also add that the use of “Tip Toe Through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim gave it a few creepy scenes. My only question is how they used it. The first time you hear it, a record player turns on and it’s playing. Why the hell did she have that just sitting on the record player? More importantly…WHY DID SHE HAVE THAT RECORD!? The second time is when that little Red Faced Demon is sharpening his nails….yeah by the way that Darth Maul Demon has a souped up Freddy glove…Oh, and apparently we also find out that a gas mask is a viable psychic tool…I’m not making this shit up…

I kept thinking through this whole scene...maybe it's hooked up to a bong...that would have made more sense...

-In Conclusion

The movie get’s a solid 3 out of 5 Top Hats. It really wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t that good either. Definately don’t go into it expecting a horribly frightening thing. I had to wait to do this review to form my own opinion because I went from the hype and was grossly disappointed. Think I was too harsh…Click Here for an alternate point of view!

That’s all for tonight Darlings…do stay tuned for more madness to come your way. Hopefully some short stories soon. Definately another review or two….

Until Next Time My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

P.S. I found this scene while looking through YouTube. It had potential to be a very eerie scene, but due to poor judgement in cinematography, the scene is only visible if you are looking for it…This will show you a perfect example of my frustration with the films delivery on scares…enjoy!

Halloween Horror Nights 21 Update….Bout Time!!

Hello my Freaky Darlings…It’s that time of year again. When Universal pulls all of their ghouls out of the warehouses and letting the monsters out of their cages. All in preparation of this years Halloween Horror Nights 21. The rumor mill has been pretty tight-lipped as compared to years before. A trend that does seem to get worst as the years go by. There are three sites that I have found reliable info while sleuthing the web: Screamscape, HHNRumors, and Behind the Thrills. Now I warn you this isn’t much, but at least I have saved you the trouble of searching yourself! So let the milling begin!

Event Icon:

This late in the game normally there is at least an inkling as to who or what the icon is going to be. I think it has been pinned down three likely candidates, with one being the more likely than the other two. One rumor is a gambler, and I’m not fond of this rumor. I just don’t see this as a workable angle. I mean the only way it could work is if his back story involved him losing too much to the house (being the event itself), and now he must draw in as many souls as he can to help pay his debt. Sort of interesting, but not as good as the other two. The Dealer I see being fun! Cut out the middle man of the gambler and go straight for the most feared person at a casino. The Dealer represents a person that can influence you to keep going and keep going until in the end he takes everything…in this case including your soul. The last and most likely is Lady Luck. Lady Luck is interesting in itself because again like Universal is taking a mythic concept and giving it new life (Bloody Mary anyone?) Making this even more likely is what the writer over at Screamscape points out. Did you know Jack wasn’t the original idea for HHN07′. Instead it was a fortune-teller, Lady Luck. I do remember hearing this but it wasn’t until he mentioned it I remembered. Taking this into consideration, I do see Lady Luck as more likely, but then you never know time will only tell…

Houses:

Belive it or not there is one house that was announced already and I’m as excited as ever for it. Universal announced last month that Halloween Horror Nights would once again be the home to an attraction based on The Thing. Only difference is this one is more based on the newer movie which is promising it will be more terrifying than the original. They better deliver on that promise, as that’s a pretty tall order! Still I’m glad to see this concept coming back. When the The Thing: Assimilation was announced, I was one that back tracked and found the history of the house. Finding out it was slated to be a house way back when in 02′. All the things I found about the house made me giddy, (The Thing is one of my all time favorite movies.) So the fact they are bringing it back with the promise of it being MORE terrifying than the last…That’s enough to make me want to go.

As for other houses, I’m really kind of stumped. If you go to HHN Rumors they have a casting list for some of the roles cast. I really can’t pick much from it. The only things I have seen yet point to maybe and Alice in Wonderland/Through the looking-glass house and maybe something to do with a prison. Feel free to look at that casting list here. If you have any theories, be sure to let me know and I will post them here, giving you credit of course.

Website:

All I can say is “Wow!” The website has some rather interesting games going on with it. These games are able to win…regardless of what some have reported. The one with the Tv’s is the easier of the two. There really isn’t a way to cheat them either as in times past. The only one I belive people can help you with is the key game, but I have yet to crack that one as well. I’m curious as to how many games are available. All I can say is wager carefully. Lose against the House and you are banished for an hour. Really I think the development team has done a good job starting out. Anything is better than 09′! Check it out here!

Thats all I have so far. At the very least I will attempt to keep you updated once a month, but somehow I feel they will come a bit more frequent than that. Hope this get’s your mouth-watering!

Until Next Time. My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Psychotik Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

All things must come to an end, funny thing is this series already did! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 marks the end of over a decade of Harry Potter films. I would say that this saddens me greatly, but if you think about it, the time to be sad has come and gone. The last book was released awhile back…at the very least it sucks there is nothing new to look forward to in this series. Still it is with great pleasure I find myself reviewing the end of Harry Potter…Let’s head into this bad boy….

***WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!!!***

Psychotik Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

There are so many good things about this movie, I find it hard to pin down just one. I do believe however, I will start with the story and work me way to the overall effect…

Story

This installment has to be the most action driven out of them all. Your really left craving more with each scene. From the Gringott’s escape to the final showdown with Voldemort, your not left with very many slow points. The parts where the action does back off you are left with overwhelming dramatic scenes that keep you fully emerged. I would also like to add that this movie, like its first part, follows very close to the book. The only parts that are really deviate from the book are parts that have to do with scenes left out to start with (Ex. The fate of the elder wand and the epilogue). All in all it’s a very over the top action based drama that will leave you wanting more even as the credits roll. The only thing I will offer you is I have not read the final book in full. I have read parts, and most of the parts I have read are featured in this movie. That being said, I was impressed by the level of attention to detail in the scenes I read. Seldom do you see that in a written word to film adaptation (Ex. See most other films based off a book including some in this series!)

Visual Effects

The only way I can describe the visual effects in this movie, is to tell you I was blown away. HP7:pt2 has some of the best visuals of all 8 movies. When you watch, look for one of the earlier scenes with the Dementors surrounding Hogwarts. The scene is one of the best visuals in the whole movie and really sets the somber mood. The Battle for Hogwarts was just too much (But in a very good way). Top this with the fact I watched it in 3D! Might I also add it was nice to see that some people are finally getting how to do the 3D effects. When the 3D fad first came back, so many movies just threw stuff together with no intention of it looking well in 3D (Ex. Clash of the Titans). My only regret is not seeing it in IMAX. I can only imagine how stunning that would have been…

Acting

If you haven’t already noticed that these films have some of the best actors in the world (If not just the best choices for the characters) You haven’t been paying attention. I was thinking a few years back about how dramatic the last movies were going to be, and found myself wondering if these kids could pull it off. I’m proud to say in this particular movies you will see some of the best performances of the main three and even some of the veteran actors. I couldn’t have been more taken away by the performance and emotion that the actors and actresses showed in this movie. If this film doesn’t sweep the academy next year, it will cement my theory that the damned thing is rigged! Honestly, Top Hats off to the cast of this movie and this series…

Overall

I’m sure you can only guess my opinion of the movie overall being in since I have done nothing but gush over it from the beginning of this review…The whole thing fits together rather nicely to make one of the best films of the summer. Sumer 2011 has given us a lot of big Blockbusters, with still some more to come as the season winds down. As much as I would love to say one of my favorite Marvel movies took my personal award for best film of the summer…I’m going to have to say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 takes it! Action, Comedy, Drama, a Dash of Horror, and pinch of Suspense…this movie has it all. It’s with great pleasure that I give this film 5 out of 5 Top Hats…and believe me when I say I would be content with giving it 6…

Sorry I sat on that so long My Freaky Darlings, but I will tell you more about wat has been going on in my life later this week. For now I say I hoped you enjoyed this review. If you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it! If you haven’t watched any of them, go jump on the fad now and become apart of the sensation before we all hurt you! Ha Ha…

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

A Special Psychotik Happy Birthday Wish!!

I would like to take some time here just before Midnight, to make a Happy Birthday wish! Happy Birthday to Joe Edenfeild of Okeechobee, Fl!! “Thou Shall Not Fall…” The Legend G Tom Mac

When I found out I was going to get to interview G Tom Mac, I almost fell over. The man behind “Cry Little Sister” was going to be able to talk to me for a bit and I was going to get to pick his brain right back. This is just such on honor for me, and I wish I could have had it out before his show tonight at Contamination Weekend. I’m sure the show went well though. He’s to great of a musician not to. There is absolutely nothing I can tell you in this forward that is not explained in great detail in the interview. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I liked doing it. Let’s crank the volume all the way to 11…because here come’s….

“Thou Shall Not Fall…” The Legend G Tom Mac

Malice: Wow! Where do you start with the legendary G Tom Mac? So many questions to ask, and not enough time in the world! Let’s open with talking about your music. How would you describe your style of music? What genre do you think it fit’s into?

G Tom Mac: Well, I think that…it’s always a hard question to answer and I get asked it alot…I think it’s certainly in the eclectic mode of rock. It has elements of pop. I like to think I’m writing about things that are interesting to me. As far as lyrically, I like to write about things I think people can relate to. sometime’s I end up writing about things people don’t relate to, but later do relate to. It’s kind of interesting how that works out sometimes. So I guess its eclectic rock with certain pop elements to it. It’s always a very difficult question to answer…

Somebody once said to me, I can’t remember when this was, but I think it was in Germany…he said “Your music has the elements of Depeche Mode…but not really…and the lyrical sense of Elvis Costello or Neil Young.” At the time I thought it was a bit of a mad statement at the time…it wasn’t an insult, Ha Ha! I do like Depeche Mode and all that stuff so…Interesting someone’s opinion, but I think that is the closest anyone has gotten as far as comparing it to something.

Malice: I’ve read that you have been into music since you were 13 with your first band at 16. What got you into music?

G Tom Mac: I think it was just in me soul. I’ve loved music since I was a kid…as far back as I remember really. Come around the time I was breaking into teen-hood, I was learning the guitar…I fiddeled around with the bass a bit…and around the age of 13 or 14 I found I could sing a bit. I was just inspired by so many different things. In my house my Dad liked opera, and that wasn’t my kind of thing, but I listened to it. He used to play Jazz and other things…There was always a wide array of music around the house. But then on my I own there was a discovery of many different kinds of musical forms. From Jimmy Hendricks all the way up to Depeche Mode and stuff like that. I was very inspired by things that had a bit of an edge to it. Certainly things like Led Zeppelin were things I was attracted to….The Beatels…you can’t go wrong with that stuff…It’s really hard to nail it down as to what inspiration got me down my road. That’s why my songs in a way…I mean I’m certainly not a country guy…I just like things that are soulful.

Malice: You’ve done a lot of work as far as doing songs for television shows and feature-length films. What got you into that?

G Tom Mac: I started off into films with a guy named Jerry Bruckheimer, you probably know him. He’s done everything from Top Gun all the way up to Pirates of the Caribbean. Anyway, he discovered me early on, and liked me a lot. Well there was this movie of his in the 80’s called Defiance that he produced, and he asked me if I would write a song…the main song…I ended up writing four or five songs for it. I quite liked the idea of making music to put against the screen. It just felt like a real passionate thing to do, for me. And you had to really write for a visual right? So I just got into that…and having done that film other directors like Cameron Crowe, who had just done Fast Times At Ridgemont High after that last one I did for Jerry Bruckheimer,  he asked me to do a song for that movie. One thing just lead to another…it’s not like I ran out and said “Oh, I have to find another movie to do.” It was just kind of people came to me, and I just fell into the mix, as the say. I just went on the road and came back. The TV stuff happened a bit later on in the 90’s when I took an interest in certain TV shows. It was before the vogue of having songs in TV shows. I was a bit ahead of it. I kind of remember some of the shows. I’ve been used in everything from Vampire Diaries to… Ha Ha, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show!” I don’t even keep track of it anymore. Now, Witchblade, was something that happened around 2000…2001. The guy, I think his name was Ralph Hemecker…He was a big fan of mine because of “Cry Little Sister.” So I started pitting songs of mine in the show and he picked out some. It was really interesting. It was a different kind of show, but it was in my world if you will. It was a somewhat of a super hero girl against vampires and any other source of evil. It was kind of cool show.

Malice: Have you ever done any shows or movies people would be surprised to see you attached to?

G Tom Mac: It’s kind of all out there. I did Chasing Amy. I don’t think anything has been a departure…There’s this television show every night called “Extra”…the news magazine show, they play a lot of my stuff. It’s interesting really. I don’t watch that show much, but I have watched it and heard my songs on there. Quite a few times actually…I see them in my royalty statements. It’s funny, because there are a lot of times I see my royalty statements and I’ve never even heard of that show. Oh! “The Bonny Hunt Show”…I don’t even know what that show is! And they air a lot of my stuff on there as well. “Big Bang Theory” this year had one of my songs. That was kind of a stretch I guess..I don’t know. The music producers of these shows just pick things they like, and if it fits in the show then well…But to answer your question, I’m never really surprised anymore…

Malice: What allows you to be more expressive? The work you do for yourself or the work you do on a T.V show or movie? Which do you prefer?

G Tom Mac: It’s always more expressive when I’m working on my own stuff, because it’s really just me isn’t it. So basically it’s just me working towards a…You know I’m not surrounding myself with someone elses story, like in a film or a T.V show. It’s always easier when your asked or given permissions to write a song for a movie. Not that I go and write the song about the movie. It just gives me instant inspiration. When your writing for your own album of songs, it’s really on you. Your really want to connect what albums mean. I like the idea of connecting a group of songs so that the fans can have a period of my life to listen to. Or just give them things that they can relate too.

Malice: I have always been a big Kiss fan, so you can imagine when I had read that you wrote the song “IsTthat You” I decided I had to ask you about it. How did they get ahold of the song? Whats the story behind it?

G Tom Mac: I wrote it when I was on the road. It was somewhere in Minnesota I remember…I thought maybe it would work. I was writing my first or second album…I can’t remember really…But I thought maybe it would work for me. But later, I just didn’t feel it was fitting in with the rest of the songs. This guy, Vinnie Poncia who was producing Kiss at the time, had asked me if he could play it for Kiss, because I wasn’t going to use it on my album. So I said sure, I didn’t really think anything of it. He called me like three days later and told me he played it for Paul and Gene and they freaked out…they loved it, and they said they want to do it. So I said “Really?” So he asked if I was sure I didn’t want to use it on my album? I told it him it wasn’t really working for me, so let me go and make some money else where. So they did it, and I thought they did a great job! They really made it their own.

It was a pretty cool demo I did…I haven’t heard it in a long time. I’m actually going to release it on an album I’m going to put out this year on a sort of greatest movie/things that other people have done kind of thing. I’m still trying to figure out how to put this compilation together properly. But the actually Demo of that still stands out.

Malice: Now comes the question I have always wanted to ask! In high school I was a bit of a Goth Kid. (still am really) So “Cry Little Sister” was a a little bit of an anthem for all of us outcasts. What inspired you for the lyrics to that song? What are the lyrics about and how do they relate to that period in your life?

G Tom Mac: Well, I had gotten a copy of the script by the Director, Joel Schumacher. I had always had the pleasure of looking at a piece of the film to get a sort of vibe for it before. But they said they were still shooting the movie, and they wanted to see if they could send me the script and get a good idea. Maybe write a theme song for the movie. So I read the script, and i was really quite taken by it. I thought it was really good. I was living in New York at the time, and there were a lot of really sort of demonic things going on in New York at the time. It was a very dark town at the time, and there were a lot of dark people in my life at the time too. There were just a lot of things going on. It seemed between what was going on in that script and what was going on in my life at the time. Something paralleled itself. I just started to write…and I’ve never been the type to write a song about whats going on in the movie…I’ve always thought that was kind of lame! I always like writing the peripheral of the film…something that gives the vibe but doesn’t reference it in a direct way. You know what I mean? So basically I thought that vampires were typically all a family. And they are a very lonely family and I felt in my world the same way. You know some sense of alienation. And I also felt there were a lot of people who felt that way, like vampires in my world. Like they were just trying to find a way to live, a way to fit in. To answer that question, and a lot of people have asked me what the lyrics are about…It’s about finding a family and being accepted. It’s the best way I can put it really. To answer what the some is about and every little lyric…I thought when I wrote the chorus, I started to here a bit of a choir in my head. The whole “Thou shall not fall” thing…it was redemption in a way for the vampire. That’s the best way to explain it really. Did I do OK?

Malice: I think you summed it up pretty good. It really explains why it would be a sort of “Goth Anthem.” At its heart it really is about despair and yearning for acceptance…you really feel that when you hear it.

G Tom Mac: It has gotten to such a different level, I had no idea! Like huge Eminem fans are now buying my music and discovering all my older stuff because he sampled me on his new album. It was really unbelievable, I had no idea he was a big fan of mine. I got a phone call one day by one of those guys at the recording studio who I had worked with. And he said they were working on the new album today and he wants to sample your song; he’s a big fan. It was interesting you know? You never know where that stuff goes. A band called Season After did a cover of it…It continues to find its way into many different forms of music.

Malice: Well it certainly does get around, doesn’t it? That being said, let’s lead into my next question: Did you ever think in the beginning that song would be as huge as it is? Like were you ever thinking to yourself “God that’s epic!”?

G Tom Mac: I did not think that. In fact, I didn’t even think it would make it in the movie. I thought “Well I love it.” About a week later when I sent the demo to Joel…they were filming the movie in Santa Cruz. He called me at like 10 in the morning on a Saturday, I remember that clearly. He said “This song is unbelievable! It’s the theme to my movie! I can’t belive you have not seen a piece to this movie. If you could only see the footage I’m shooting right now.” I thought “Well that’s cool!” I have not even seen this movie, and had no idea howe it was going to turn out as brilliant as it did. So I went back and did the final recording of it. e wanted me to play some pieces for throughout the film. We had the choir in the one spot. It was quite fun really. I had no idea it would work how it worked in the film. It was just one of those things you never know. It just taught me I should rea more scripts and not look at the film! Ha Ha!

What was interesting is, when it came down to who was going to record the song for the movie. The record company, that being Atlantic, they wanted to have Phil Collins do it or…Oh God Steve Perry from Journey…They had all these ideas of these Mega-Rock…Not even Mega-Rock, more like Mega-Pop bands really. They just wanted a really big name to do it, so with all due respect Joel let them audition these people. And he just said, “No, No, No, No…the only one to do this is G.” And that’s what it came down to. That’s how I became not just the song writer but also the artist too. Joel just said, “You are the voice of the movie. Everything I do from here on out is  based on your song. Your voice is Keifer’s part, Jason’s part, Everyone’s part. I thought to myself, “O.K.” and then I watched the movie and I kind of got what he was talking about. Anyway, I’m proud to be part of it. What can I say?

Malice: When the studios did the second one, did they bring you in on it? What kind of part did you have in it?

G Tom Mac: I didn’t want to do anything. They had talked to me about it, and I read the script. I just thought they were going straight to DVD with this thing…My deal with Warner Brothers said they could license the song from me for anytime for The Lost Boys. So they licensed it through me. Then they came back to me after the film was done and said, “Listen, we really need to have some validation here. We want to know if you would do a music video for “Cry Little Sister” for the DVD.” I said, “Yeah, as long as I can have full creative control. I wanna do “Cry Little Sister” with a little more industrial feel to it. So after it came out I had fans saying how the only thing that was worth it was the bonus video of “Cry Little Sister.” It’s one of those things that if it would have been a really good film, I would have done my version in the film. I just wasn’t keen one where it was going. It wasn’t bad but…

I’m actually in the process of doing a thing with Joel Schumacher, and turning “Cry Little Sister” into a movie. I’ve already written a graphic novel, that is actually going to become a real novel. It will also be a game. We’ve begun a deal with Electronic Arts. I’ll be singing in the game, I think it will be really cool. I mean we are ways away from this being real, but there is still enough to talk about.

Malice: Wow! That really sounds like an interesting concept for a game. I do hope you keep me in the loop as it progresses. Is there anything else you can tell us about it?

G Tom Mac: It’s kind of a bit on the girl power thing. It sort of a….Well I don’t want to give to much of it away…I mean it does touch on vampires obviously. But it also deals with a bit of…Adam and Eve meets Cleopatra meets the future. The world is a bit destitute. The sister of Shangri-la is our hero. It’s interesting how when I wrote the song, there are almost these type of characters in it. Like Blue Masquerade, he’s an image but I’ve made him into a character. I can’t really get into the story with you, but there is an interesting way that I’ve taken the song for the graphic novel and the game. The graphic novel should hopefully be out next year.

Malice: Well, I look forward to it all! It sounds really cool, and I can only imagine how truly epic it will be. Next I would like to talk to you about Emerging Past and your song “Soul I Bare.” How did you get attached to this project?

G Tom Mac: Well Tom came across me. Basically he was a fan of Lost Boys and also a fan of my work. He had asked Brooke McCarter, who is in the movie and also in The Lost Boys, he had him put in a call to me. He asked me if I would be interested in scoring it as well as doing a theme song. So I took a look at the film, and it looked like it had a cool vibe to it. It was still unedited at the time, and I thought “Well, I have some time.” I had this song “Soul I Bare” that I was kicking around. I basically finished it up, I just thought it would work well for the film. Then one thing lead to another and I ended up writing 5 or 6 more songs for the film, besides scoring the entire film. Which I enjoyed doing! I brought in some other artists to finish the soundtrack and we put the rest of the soundtrack together. I hope it does well out there.

Malice: It really does look like it’s going to be a fantastic movie, I can’t wait for my copy of it. Let’s talk about your new album. You sent me two songs off of the album, and they sound REALLY GOOD!! You said earlier your albums describe periods of your life, what period is this new album about? What message or mood do you hope to convey?

G Tom Mac: I think it’s really about now. When I speak about the period, it’s more about the period I’m in. I don’t really like delving into the past much. I’m not much of a retrospective kind of writer or artist. I think it’s about dealing with so many exploding things in the world right now. I just like to have fun with music. There’s just times you get introspective, and there’s a few songs like that on the album. Like the song “Groove at the End of the World” is sort of a last resort. Like if it all blows up, then we still have this music..the few of us that are left can connect to each other and we are all going down and rockin’. I’m going to look at. Groove at the end of the World” you know? It’s just a crazy time were in right now. But I think the outcome will be cool. I think this time it’s just a many slaps to the face so we can wake up and quit doing things the way we’ve been doing things. To change things, to improve the way we can relate to one another. It’s like the dark before the light.

Getting back to this album though, there’s a song on the album called “Slave That You Are.” It’s really about all of us and how we are a slave to money and the economy, your family, your girlfriend. Mainly we are a slave to the things we have created. So I think it’s a bit tongue in cheek that song. The other song I sent “Say It’s OK,” It’s sort of like picking up somebody your really close to and getting away from all this stuff and finding a new place to be. I think we need those kinds of inspirational songs. When I wrote that song it was kind of like you had to inspire people to belive there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You have to have a song like that on the album.

It’s interesting because I’ve always been a big fan of Trent Reznor and always have. He can go dark, very dark, and most of the time he does. And I got there too, in fact I have a tendancy to go down that road more often. But I also have a light side, a sort of optimism that says everything’s gonna be alright.” So somewhere between Trent and Bono I live…

G Tom and Cory Haim working on "Mend Me" for Emerging Past.

Malice:Well the time has come…It’s time for some “Out-of-Hat” questions! Most people dread them…but a lot of us love them…are you interested?

G Tom Mac: Yeah sure!

Malice: First question: You’re epic masterpiece “Cry Little Sister” was on The Lost Boys, and you also did a version of the song for True Blood. How do you think the two shows stack up? Which do you prefer between the two?

G Tom Mac: Well Lost Boys being a film and not a series. I think True Blood is a brilliant series. My friend Scott Reiner directs a lot of those episodes. So I can’t say too much bad about True Blood…I do like True Blood! It’s gotten better, I don’t watch it all the time. It’s kind of a tough one to say. I’ll always love the original Lost Boys. So I’m going to say I love The Lost Boys more. It’s something that has stood the test of time. And I think True Blood will be looked back on as innovative.

Malice: Do you prefer paranormal movies or realistic movies?

G Tom Mac: I like a little of both. I don’t really have a preference, I’m really not stuck on one thing. I like Iron Man, the first one anyway. I like super hero stuff as well. Super 8 was a good movie. I just like a mix…I’m all about the quality of things.

Malice: Last one…If Vampire’s and werewolves were alive…which one would you be?

G Tom Mac: Vampire…no questions about it. I don’t like the idea of getting hairy. Vampires have less shaving to do. Come on Vampires are damn sexy sensual…it’s just fucking sexy!

Malice: Is there anything you want to add to your fans before you leave?

G Tom Mac: Without them, it wouldn’t be possible!

Wasn’t he great guys!? I hope to see more of G Tom as some of his projects come to fruition. That’s all for the interviews for Contamination Weekend. I hope everyone they are having a safe and spooky-fun time. G Tom I bet that concert was the highlight of the show! Now, I’m going to go get some much-needed sleep! I hope you all enjoyed the interview…GOODNIGHT!!!

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,

Malice Psychotik

Unmasked with Brad Loree

It was a couple of days ago that I told all of you that I had some rather cool interviews coming up. This is the first one. My first interview was with a very talented stunt actor by the name of Brad Loree. Brad, as some of you may know, was Michael Myers in Halloween: Resurrection. He’s known all around the horror/sci-fi con circuit as a very personable guy who loves what he does and enjoys his fans even more. Talking to him on the phone did nothing but prove this. Mr. Loree was very informative, and I can tell he really liked to share his stories and life experiences so that all of his fans could see. At this point there is nothing I can tell you that the interview won’t explain two times better. So without any delay…Grab your butcher knives and pull up a seat because this is…

Unmasked with Brad Loree

Malice Psychotik: What got you into acting and doing stunts?

Brad Loree: Well…As a young Kid, I Just fell in love with movies. Movies were an escape. When I was a little kid I remember thinking the greatest thing you could possibly be wasn’t being an astronaut or the president, It was being an actor. It was like the greatest thing would to be in a movie with lines. I got into stunts when I was 13. I fell in love with Bruce Lee and Martial arts, and joined local karate school and was taught by a guy named Tony Morelli. My Karate instructor went on to be a world cruiser weight kick boxing champion, and he sort of dragged me along into that. Then he got into the film industry in their early 80’s, when it first started coming to Vancouver. Tony introduced me to ever body, and because I could fight somewhat and was a big guy, I was the big guy that the little guy could kick the crap out of and throw down a flight of stairs. He opened a door and I followed in his footsteps. As a young teenager, I developed a case of really bad acne, so it really derailed my confidence. So being a stunt guy kind of worked for me. It was the closest I could get to being an actor without actually being an actor. Stunt is more the physical aspect of acting. I studied drama in school, took some classes off and on, but stunting was the perfect thing for me. I got to appear on camera, and I got to rub elbows with the actors. Occasionally I would get a part what they called Stunt Acting. Instead of getting an actor to say one line and get thrown down a flight of stairs, they hire a stunt guy to say one line and get thrown down a flight of stairs. Basicly…that’s how I got into it.

Malice: In the realm of horror movies, you are known more for your role as Michael Myers in Halloween: Resurrection. We’ll get to that in a minute! Really I want to ask you about your experiences from some of the other films you have stunted in. To look at your imDB page, you have quite the list of Blockbuster movies (X2: X-Men United, X-Men: Last Stand, The Watchmen, Tron: Legacy etc…) What was it like to be on those huge Hollywood sets?

Brad: You know, Malice, being on those big Blockbuster sets is a lot like being a minot in a really big pond! The sets are so huge and it’s so obvious money is being spent. Working with all of those big guys, like Jeff Bridges, Hugh Jackman, and all those guys. It’s always a huge treat because I’m such a movie fan. I still get star struck when I see people or meet people. Being on those sets is like walking through a dream, because when I was kid I always wanted to work in movies. It’s kind of like a dream come true. Some of the guys I work with never get star struck. They’re not big movie fans, they’re like star fighters or world-class athletes and that’s how they got into the business. So it was never a big deal for them, but I’ve always been like a kid in a candy store!!!

Like Tron for instance, I was only there to double Jeff Bridges, and it was like two days. The first day I didn’t even leave the trailer. The second day though, we did the work. I got to meet Jeff…and I even got to do some off camera dialogue with him. It was scene where he was his older self and they computerized his  younger face on to the other body. I did about a half a dozen takes with him, all just a few lines each. But it was really a lot of fun. I just wish I could have gotten a picture with him. I’m a huge Jeff Bridges fan! It’s just a real treat and a real honor and I will have those memories forever.

Malice: What are some of the coolest stunts you have ever done?

Brad: Coolest stunt? Wow…boy…huh…One of my favorite stunt actor jobs, I was on the set of a movie of the week called “The Long Way Home.” I think of all the days I was on set I was never as Star Struck as I was when I was on with Jack Lemmon. I got to do this little stunt actor scene with him. This other guy and myself play these two rednecks. My buddy tries to pick the girl up and Jack comes. We get into a fight with him and she ends up maceing us both….

As far as big stunts though…the biggest stunt I’ve ever done…in my opinion…one where I was the most concerned for my safety, was a TV show I was on where I had to jump through an 8 foot by 8 foot window from the third story of an abandoned mental hospital. It was called Rearview Hospital, they closed it down…Normally jumping from the 3rd story wouldn’t bother me at all, because jumping from high places into an air bag can be a lot of fun…BUT!! The floor below jutted out about 14 feet, and it kind of had like a cement patio downstairs with a cement railing. So it was a long jump as far as it was a high jump. The danger was if I didn’t clear that, I would fall 18 feet onto a cement railing, and that would have probably really, really messed me up. They told me “Brad if you land short I don’t know if it will kill you, but it will definitely mess you up.” It was just really scary to shoot. When we did this scene I had this run way built up. They have this big heavy sheet of glass, of course they blow it for you before you hit but it’s still basically a big sheet of glass! I had the wardrobe on, and I had these boots. There was another guy supposed to do the stunt, so all of the clothes were bought to his size. He decided he couldn’t do it because of his knees. So when they brought the boots up to me, they were these brand new motor cycle boots. Stiff, Stiff, Stiff leather that was two sizes to small. So you can imagine trying to run in these boots that are as hard as concrete, with your toes all curled up in them, trying to make this jump…I tell ya, it was one of those nights where you sure wish you didn’t have to do it, but your already committed to it…you already said you would do it and there’s no backing out. But I did it, and the director loved it. They shot it from like four different angles, and played it back like Boom…Boom…Boom…Boom! Four shots of me coming through this window. I was just so tickled. When we finished the shot, a guy named Ken Mathers said “Thank you Brad that was the most amazing thing I have ever had the privilege of shooting! Thanks so much!” It was a real treat!

The list just goes on and on. I’ve got to do a fight scene with Jean Claude Van Damme, I’ve got to do a fight scene with Jackie Chan, I’ve gotten chased out of a house by Sylvester Stalone, I’ve gotten shot by Arnold Schwarzenegger…I didn’t get to be in a scene with Jet Li, but I was in Romeo Must Die, I’ve had fight scenes with Steven Segal, Lorenzo Lamas…I’ve gotten to work with a lot of the big action guys.

Malice: You’ve also done some movies that were far out of the scope of what you normally do, (Freddy Got Fingered, Twilight Saga: New Moon, Josie and the Pussycats) can you tell us a little about them?

Brad: New Moon I doubled Graham Greene. It was a scene where he gets tackled by I think a Werewolf. Freddy Got Fingered I just slid a car out into the intersection as Tom Green was driving through. Josie and the Pussycats, there’s this scene where a van comes racing down the ally and these guys jump out and grab this girl, I was one of the guys that grabbed her. There are a lot of movies I’ve done where I was on-screen for about 2.5 seconds. But you still get paid for the day, so it’s always been fun that way. About 95% of my work is as a stunt man…If I hadn’t had the good fortune of falling into the role of Michael Myers, me and you wouldn’t be talking right now. Brad Loree probably wouldn’t even be on the imDB. The fame that Michael Myers has brought me, has brought a lot of my other work to the floor. It catapulted me into the spotlight for a time. I’m very fortunate and I get to do these Horror conventions, and I hope I always do. I hope I’ll always be available to come to them. Horror fans are just the most loyal I’ve met out of any genre.

Malice: What do you find more fulfilling Acting or Stunt work?

Brad: Well if I answer honestly I would have to say I’ve always enjoyed acting more. You know Malice, thats where my heart has always been. Unfortunately I didn’t grow up with a ton of confidence. I don’t want to say I never appreciated the stunt work, it’s just to me it was always a job. Also because I was a fairly athletic guy growing up, I don’t want to say it was easy. By and by I always sort of took for granted if I could do it then anybody could do it. I’ve met a lot of people though that can’t. To answer your question though, I’ve always loved the acting, that’s where my love has always been.

Malice: Now let’s talk about Mr. Hush. I have been chomping at the bit to see this movie, and it looks awesome! Is there anything you can tell us about the movie? Maybe a little about your character?

Brad: Well, I met Dave Madison at a convention a few years back. Most conventions you meet a few upcoming directors or writers that want you for their movie. But God Bless him, David sent me this script, and we ended up shooting the film in Pennsylvania last year. It’s essentially the story of this middle-aged guy that’s married with a kid, and he get’s haunted by a demon from his family’s past. I really don’t want to say too much at this point, because the movie hasn’t been released yet and I don’t want to give the story away. But basically the character is tormented for ten years by this demon, I can tell you that much. The movie has not been released yet, but I believe David told me that it was going to release in October in a theater in Pennsylvania. I’m hoping to come down for that. I guess that will be like our premiere. It was just a really great experience. I hope it does well and we can do Mr. Hush 2. It’s supposed to actually be a trilogy, so I really hope that happens.

You know when you haven’t acted in a while, you start to get kind of rusty. You have to keep your chops up. So when Dave called me I hadn’t done any acting or classes in a while. So actually I turned him down at first. But then I told myself “Brad, the only reason you’re not doing this is because you don’t believe in yourself. Why don’t you believe in yourself for once, and go and do the best you can and just put it all out there.” I called him and said “Alright David I’m coming out.” We shot it in three weeks last fall. It was great! I hope to work with Dave and Thom for the rest of my life!

Malice: Well there are thousands of Halloween Fans out there that are wondering when the hell am I going to get to Halloween: Resurrection, so let’s dive in head first! How did you come across the role?

Brad: I was working on this show “Los Luchadors.” We did 13 episodes and broke for hiatus. Even though there was a lot of talking about “oh, yeah we are going to come back for another 13.” Most veterans don’t wait around, they all go out and look for work. Our first AV guy Brian Knight went and interviewed with the Halloween people, because Halloween: Resurrection had already set up shop. And during the interview they mentioned that they didn’t know who their Canadian Stunt coordinator was going to be and they didn’t have a Michael Myers yet. So he said you know who you should talk to is Brad Loree. He’s a pretty big guy and he has done some really good stunt coordinating with me lately. So I’m driving my car one day, and I get this phone call “Hey Brad, this is Tracey Long with Halloween: Resurrection. We are looking for a Michael Myers, I just wanna know how tall are you?” I said I’m 6’2″ and a half and she said “Oh Perfect! You want to come meet the Executives?” I was like sure! I went there the next day and everyone was there. All the producers, the director…I hadn’t seen the movie in like 17 years, but the director got me to go up against the wall and walk toward him as Michael Myers. He gave me a few tips and direction…And he said I did just fine. They then told me it was nothing definite, but if they did pick me they would fly me out to L.A to get my head cast. I looked at them and said, “You mean I have to fly all the way out to L.A. just to double the guy?” They said “No you’re not going to double him, you will be the guy.” That’s when I went OHHHH I REALLLLLY WANT THIS JOB!! And so the director gave me the thumbs up from there, I went down to L.A. to get my head cast. We started camera tests a couple of weeks later, we shot for six weeks, then came back and did reshoots for two weeks.

Malice: How do you think Halloween: Resurrection stacks up against the others?

Brad: I don’t really know…I really like how they brought it into this day with all the technology and the kids texting and the cameras. I like it for that because it really kept with the times. It didn’t try to stay in the 70’s for example. It was sort of the modern time film for the Halloween franchise. I can’t really tell you how scary it is because I was in all the scenes so they don’t really shock me. I’ve had some tell me that they didn’t really like the direction, but they thought I was great. But then I’ve had people tell me it was their favorite one.I love the first one head, shoulders, and torso above all of them. Resurrection will always be the highlight of my life, even though I wore a mask and didn’t have any dialogue I was one of the stars of the movie. I’ve got a group of friends and me that always get a chuckle out of seeing the movie on cable and it says starring Jaime Lee Curtis and Brad Loree…we always get a laugh when we see that! It sure is an honor to have played Michael Myers because I’m a big Halloween fan. Everyone was great, we had a lot of fun, and made a buck!

Malice: Now I know most of the other “Men Behind the Mask” if you will, say they all brought a certain trademark to their version of the character. Whether it be a way they turn their head, or a way they walk. Did you do anything like that to make your Michael stand out from other incarnations?

Brad: Well when I was researching the role, I noticed some of the newer guys had really gotten away from the way Michael walked. His gait to me was one of the scariest things about him in the first one. I just remember it being so creepy! He’s not in a hurry, he’s just so methodical and calm. A lot of the guys got away from that. I just watched the first one over and over, and a lot of people have credited me for bringing that back, that Michael Myers walk. So I can’t take it as my own. But I like to say that I kind of resurrected it. ((No Pun Intended)) There was also another scene where I killed a girl and tilted my head. I asked the director if I could do that because I hadn’t seen that in a while. I remember that was just kind of creepy in the first one. It kind of reminded me of a cat playing with a mouse. I’ve always related Michael to a child. How like he doesn’t realize he is hurting these people, but more he is just playing with them. Kind of like a cat with a mouse, and how they end up getting too rough and the mouse ends up dying. So that’s what I like to think I brought back to the character.

Malice: Well this last section of the interview is what I like to call “Out-of Hat” questions. More or less a small set of questions that are either off the wall or just don’t particularly fit, are you game for some?

Brad: Oh absolutely!

Malice: Well, let’s do this then!!! If you got to pick a character in a Zombie flick which would it be…The Noble Hero, The Kick Ass Take no trash Zombie Killing Machine, The awkward Science Nerd that figures everything out, or the Stoner screw-up that dies a hilarious death and reanimates only to bring crap right to the main casts door?

Brad: I would have to say the nobel character…the first one. That’s who I’d like to be. That’s the one the chicks would go for!!

Malice: As far as cryptozoological animals (Big Foot, Lochness, Yeti, Chupacabra…etc…) What are your feelings on them? Real or fake?

Brad: Well I believe that when there is a lake or a planet that are deeper or vaster than we can register on a radar…You know I think there are a lot of areas that are still uncharted. So I believe these creatures are out there. I don’t like to think that there is no mystery left in the world. I hope one day they do reveal themselves, just like I hope one day aliens come down from outer space. I don’t want to be ridiculed for these things. I want them to show themselves and prove the nay sayers wrong.

Malice: Since you were in two of the original three X-Men films, if you could be any of the X-Men, which character would it be?

Brad: I would really love to be Wolverine. When I saw the first one, I really like Wolverine in that scene where he is fighting for money in the cage. He Kicks Ass!

Malice: So do you have anything else you would like to add?

Brad: Well I’m going to be at Contamination Weekend this weekend. Next week I will be at Days of the Dead in Indy. Dave and Thom’s stars are rising and they are wanting to keep me in their rolladex of actors, so I hope to see a lot more appearances and roles from them. I look forward to seeing everyone at the shows!

Well My Freaky Darlings, that about wraps it up for tonight. Brad is a really great guy, I wish him all the best, and I hope to have him back on here soon. If any of you are at Contamination Weekend right now and are reading this, be sure to stop by and say hey from your dear Uncle Malice. Stay tuned for my next candid interview I’m sure your Sister will Cry to see….

Until Next Time, My Freaky Darlings,
